Eurovision Song Contest

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Eurovision Song Contest

Post by GranadaJoe »

No, not that pointless waste of time. The other pointless waste of time.

Reports today that Manure and the Victims will "fight it out of Alex Song, this Summer".

I can only imagine the conversation:

"You have him!"
"Fuck off, I don't want him, you have him"
etc etc

I would truly love to see that prat lumbering around Old Trafford.

Clever thread title! Although it might stop others from opening it. Song was an ok player imo, bang average, prone to the odd calamitous error but could also play the occasional Hollywood pass. Wouldn't want him back but he could do a job for some teams.

I'd like to see us buy Lallana... If Liverpool can afford him then we certainly can!!

PS I love the UK entry this year. Very catchy!!

Song was worthy of a squad place when he played to instruction, and kept his position in central midfield.
It is easy to overlook but he did well in his penultimate season with us.

But his forward forays (I guess under prompting from Wenger), though producing the odd marquee pass to Van Persie, meant Song was not able to get back downfield quickly enough and too often left us with a hole in the middle of the pitch, which would subsequently be exploited by the opposition.

He is not an awful player by any means, but I think we can and should move on and buy a better player for central midfield, perhaps Lars Bender?

At the end of the day Song lacked the internal discipline to regulate his positioning etc regardless of Wenger's leniency with him. He is never going to be a quality player due to this and several other limitations but I wonder if he would prosper slightly more under a manager who made sure he did his job? I'm not at all hailing him as a tactical genius but could you imagine if Sam Allardyce told him to play as a DM and Song kept foraying up the field and trying to clip 30 yard passes over the top? I would pay to see that.

Mong is a fucking moron. An absolute wankhole. Anyone see that "documentary" about him at Barca? Oh my dear Christ, it was so embarrassing. He is basically their prank monkey. Dresses like a retard to make his "mates" laugh.

Getting past that, anyone that thinks he wasn't a bad player is either in serious need of mental counselling or needs to get off the drugs. At his best (which was seldom) he was average, most of the time he was appallingly shit. Couldn't run, couldn't pass beyond 5 yards, couldn't shoot, lunged in, gave away too many needless stupid free-kicks, had the turning circle of an oil tanker with one propeller... How the fuck we raped the Whores for 16million for this piece of shite is beyond me.

Jesus Christ, I know absence makes the heart grow fonder and the mists of time can sooth most things and all that old shite, but fuck me sideways, Mong was one of the worst I've ever seen in an Arsenal jersey. When he left I celebrated like I did the day we signed Bergkamp. 8)

Awful, awful, awful player - in fact I would go so far as to say that the word awful doesnt sum up how totally shite he really was

I could never understand how his tendancy to frequently give away the most stupid petty free kicks, didnt receive my coverage from the media and certainly Gooners who watched him week in and week out, should have been in an absolute rage at his continued stupidity  We all give out about le cock on here, but you cannot blame the total lack of brains that song showed, on his manager - tactically he should have been made play more defensively but the inability to tackle or make short passes is down to him and him alone
