Restricted tickets again! :banghead:

he Football Association has announced the details for the Community Shield, the traditional curtain-raiser played between the league champions and FA Cup winners.
This year’s match will see Arsenal take on Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 10 (kick-off 3pm).
Both clubs will receive "approximately 26,000 tickets" for the match, with ticket prices ranging from £20 to £45. The full ticket allocation process for Arsenal supporters will be announced via Arsenal.com in due course, as soon as club officials have discussed the process with the FA.
However, as with the FA Cup final, we are disappointed with the official allocation of only 26,000 tickets.
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “We are all looking forward to playing Manchester City in the Community Shield. However, as with the FA Cup final, we are disappointed with the official allocation of only 26,000 tickets for this match. This means that both clubs will only officially receive a combined total of approximately 52,000 tickets, in a stadium which has a capacity of 90,000.
“The club will implement a ticket-allocation policy which will be as fair to all our supporters as possible, but we appreciate that many of our loyal supporters will be unable to obtain tickets for this match. We will be explaining our position to the FA and will try our best to obtain more tickets for our supporters.”
Money raised from the Community Shield will be distributed to charities and good causes across the country, with clubs competing in last season’s FA Cup first round and beyond eligible to nominate organisations to receive a £2,000 payment from the FA.
Both Arsenal and Manchester City will receive £25,000 for a charity or good cause of their choice. Arsenal’s money will be distributed via The Arsenal Foundation to support projects which reach young people in the local community.

Didn't United get 40K last year?

Probably because Wigan only took up part of their allocation

I'm surprised at this - obviously Club Wembley is taken out of the equation so realistically we are playing with 73,000 tickets (I think) but I'm surprised they feel it necessary to reserve 21k tickets for corporate demand for this show-pony event.

Pity as I found an old ticket stub for a Community Shield vs Chavs (must have been 2005) when I was home last week and it was £15. If the allocation was 33k or something more reasonable like that then given the uptake won't be as high especially considering summer holidays etc it would give more people a chance to see The Arsenal play at Wembley, and last year tickets were £45/£35/£25/£20.

The reality I think will be that a huge number of those 21k tickets will be available to fans through one channel or another anyway as the uptake isn't going to be huge and many of those entitled to one of those tickets will be willing to give/sell them. Just a shame that every decision the FA makes is tainted by greed and utter contempt for fans.

I don't know what football is coming to when it is made difficult to attend a pre season friendly!

I'm certainly not going to try to hard to get hold of a ticket just to see us get stuffed by City in any case

The bottom line is the deciding factor these days, nothing else.

The bottom line in this case is that most of us supporters will drink in a local bar and buy food from a local street vendor. By doing this Wembley only get our ticket money.
The tourist/corporate on the other hand will spend a fucking fortune at the internal concession stands etc. etc. thus realising more profit for them. They are the people that business wants at football matches today, not the likes of the regular supporter. This isn't going to change now and with rising salaries across the game it is only likely to worsen.

I dont expect to see the same scramble for tickets as the cup final. Obviously this is a pre season friendly as opposed to a major trophy, a lot of gooner's will be on their hols around this time as already said.

There may be a ballot again, but I would think the chances of getting tickets are nearer 80-90% this time as opposed to less than 50%. A lot of season ticket holders won't bother.
