LIAM BRADY

Bloody good interview 8)

The inference that pingpong was too distracted by social media and all that bullshit, wasn't hard to see

Thanks Reb. I don't normally read Irish newspapers

Good interview though and sounds like Brady's had enough of day to day involvment with jumped up teenagers and their aggravating parents.

Loving all things to do with 70's Footy as I do, Brady would defo be in my top twenty players from that era. He was excellent,'Chippy' Brady, fantastic days, a good read that. I think also (others may not agree) that John Devine from the late 70's - early 80's era may have had same status with the fans now as Brady has, if it wasn't for the injuries he got, always thought he was a good player too. Good luck with the season, this time next week at about 4-55pm we'll all be thinking of winning the league or having a meltdown..!

Fascinating read. Notice who interviewed him? Tony Leen. Brady is his source and that's why I'm taking the Carvalho rumors seriously.

tony leen is an arsenal fan and has done plenty of interviews down the years at arsenal and on brady so it is prob right that his info comes from someone at the club.

Good read, and one particular remark kind of stood out........

'Arsenal are operating at the very highest levels, trying to compete to win the Premier League, trying to go to the last rounds of the Champions League '

So not to win the CL?? An interesting comment and really suggests that no-one believes that Arsenal can win it, just getting to the QF, maybe SF would be a huge achievement. :rubchin:

I think that's already clear mate.

Getting to the group stages, through the group and job done. It's the culture that Wenger has instilled in the club.

Interesting read.
Honest that he admits we are not at the highest level of spenders, and interesting what he said about Szczesny.

Great read. Scary that an 8yr old should need an agent. Someone should send the article to Ches with the important bit highlighted. It's no coincidence that last year was his best year for us and he also used social media less.

Hope we(the club) can take some of what he says on board, especially the bit about needing to be more aggressive with the pursuit of younger player and I don't just mean in England.

Ryan Gauld is a good example. Anyone that's seen him live say this kid is seriously special. We were linked with him then he ends up in Portugal with a ridiculous release clause. We could easily have afforded the £3m fee he cost and that's hardly an expensive gamble. That's what we pay Diaby every couple of months to keep the club physio company.

If ever there was a 'Nudge and Fair Warning' via the media for a young player this is one

"“I was instrumental is getting (Wojciech) Szczesny from Poland and I’ve said to him on occasions, ‘I played with two of the best keepers of all time, Pat Jennings and Dino Zoff, and they never said a word’. They never wanted to say anything in the media. All they wanted to do was keep their goal intact and their defence in shape. And they played their careers at the very highest level. Listen to what I’m saying. Wojciech could be one of the best, because in goalkeeping terms he is very young.”

Isn't it typical how another paper - rag though it is - Will pick up on one tiny thing and make a mountain outof a mole hill...like Metro have done with this...(below) about Raheem Sterling

http://metro.co.uk/2014/08/09/raheem-st ... r-4826896/

Have to say that is one damn good read - He is articulate and pulls no punches - would make a good manager (maybe?)

He also refers and defers to wenger quite a bit - still knows whwre his roots are and knows the game (and business) inside out and arse backwards.

Thanks REB Great read

I met him once at a hotel in Sussex, went over and apologised for disturbing him (he was with a lady who Im not sure perhaps he ought to have been with) He said it wasnt a problem at all, got me to pull up a chair and we chatted football for a good hour, his passion for the game was so obvious. He also signed an Arsenal top that I had with me.

The lady he was with sat there giving me daggers all the while we chatted football. I bet he had a great night, the hotel was lovely and she looked a very naughty girl.
