As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
What's really racist is the way that the media and everyone within football have sided with Mackay against the 'shifty, inscrutable Bond-villain' Tan without knowing any real facts behind his sacking. From the moment MM withdrew his £7.5m legal claim against Tan and apologised unreservadly it seemed obvious that Tan must have evidence of misconduct.
If you are going to be the bloke in the pub, then don't put it down in text form that can be reproduced as evidence. Don't send it out to people you wouldn't trust with your life. Finally do not have this conversation beyond the confines of your own home.
His language isn't un-PC. It's racist,misogynistic and homophobic.
It's the kind of conversation that goes on in offices/building sites/the City when the black fella is out to lunch or the fairy in accounting is off having cock sandwich for lunch or the tart in admin with big jugs is getting the sarnies. I've worked in 2 of those environments so I know what I am talking about.
His biggest mistake was not being discreet about it.
He'll get the book thrown at him. He'll apologise, say he'll get counselling and rebuild his career. In 5yrs time Richard Keys will interview him and we'll be told it's time to move on.
He is no different from John Terry, the same Terry that almost every outlet fell over themselves to try and get Hodgson to bring back for the WC.
I quite liked Mackay as a manager. He seemed pretty good with mediocre and looked like he could eventually get a Newcastle level club but he has officially ruined it all.
While Mackays alleged comments are racist and homophobic isn't it laughable that they are uncovered by the Daily Mail above all "newspapers". As someone commented on Twitter said he's probably in line for the editors job at that rag.

I don't think you can justifiably claim that Mr Tan's reason for the Mackay sacking was down to knowing about these comments. Otherwise surely the chairman would have come out with it at the time and avoided a lot of the vilification he has received. Indeed, I remember one of the reasons given was that he thought Makay over-spent on playeers / didn't use his transfer budget well. It was a considered a mad decision at the time and should still be thought as such, especially given Cardiff's subsequent relegation.
