Return of the Sky Blue Nomads
Coventry City fans (Corkbarry included) will be delighted at the news that their team is to return to the Ricoh Arena from 5th September.
I'm really pleased for them as it was outrageous that they were forced to leave in the first place. They'll still only be tenants but at least they have a regular place to call home again.
(Disclaimer: In the event that we draw them in a cup this year and lose they can go and fuck themselves)

But agreed, what a shit situation they were forced in to.

What SISU, with the craven assistance of the FA, were allowed to do to Cov was nothing short of a disgrace. Pleased for them that some sort of normality has returned.

As long as some dickhead of their's doesn't get on our pitch again then I'm not too fussed at all.

Re: Return of the Sky Blue Nomads
I'm still grateful for them for the famous Mabbut OG cup final, and Highfield road was the sit of a memorable cup semi final win , but I struggle to like them .
Maybe it's Jimmy Hill, maybe it's the concrete walkways, maybe its their complete lack of away fans until recently !
I never understood why they abandoned Highfield road for a New stadium AFTER they had been relegated ?

Coventry City back at the Ricoh
This evening,(I think that it is on Sky),Coventry City play their first game back in their home city for about two years. I don't support them obviously, but I work in Coventry, and have mates who follow them, and have heard from them about the Fans fight to bring the team "home".
There was a definite "buzz" around the city today, and the game is a 28,000 sell out.
Good Luck to the Sky Blues Fans who worked hard to help make it happen!

would like the club back in the premier league, but I have to say the ricoh is one of the worst bowls in the country, not like highfield road which had real character. fair play to them though, hope they have a good night and get a win, as they deserve it

Not only did they have that chocolate brown kit, they were also sponsored by one of the worst cars ever.....the Talbot!!!Top Londoner wrote:How novel.

But, I was living in London in 1987,(about a mile from Highbury near Clissold Park),when I spent a very pleasant afternoon in a North London pub full of scum, cheering on Cov in the F.A. Cup Final! They should hold a little place in all our hearts for that alone!

Saw us lose 3-2 at Highfield Road about 15 years ago. Not really had much affection for the club since then.

Boxing day and Robbie Keane scored . Football fans are badly treated in the modern game, we are movable customers . For that reason I am glad for Coventry to be back playing in their City. Not sure about calling the stadium their own.northbank123 wrote:Saw us lose 3-2 at Highfield Road about 15 years ago. Not really had much affection for the club since then.

A young me was at that game with my Mum, all I remember is an extremely sweary bloke and his kid next to me getting kicked out with 5 minutes to go. They missed a Davor Suker consolation IIRC.
Going to uni in Cov means I've been to the Ricoh a couple of times and it's shit. See: Leicester, Derby, Reading. They'll be back down to sub-10k crowds by January.
