Gooners in the England squad

Post by DennisMyHero »

Hello All.

You could say I am a newbie but I have been a long time lurker as anything I am about to mention has normally already been discussed to death and even fisticuffs on occasion.

Anyway just wanted to ask when was the last time we had this many gooners in squad. Must have been Adams, Dixon, Mers and Wrighty ?

Get in Welbeck with his second goal of the night.

Hello!

We've probably got too used to most of our players being in the French squad! It is good to see plenty in the England squad for a change; Gibbs might have been there too.

The likes of Dixon, Merson and Wright were never serious fixtures at international level.

It's quite conceivable that England could have 4 or 5 Arsenal regulars in a few years time with Chambers, Wilshere, Walcott, Chamberlain and Welbeck.

I can remember an Ingerlund team that had Adams, Dixon, Marwood, Rocastle, Davis, Thomas and Smith in it.

We now have a decent contingent of English players at the club and in the national team. My only concern is that these players get injured when on international duty and the club that pays their wages loses out! I'll never agree with international games being played during the regular season.

I remember that, I have a feeling it was against Saudi Arabia or someone like that, Marwood got about 8 minutes as a sub which was the sum total of his England career.

Davis wouldn't have played though, he never got a full England cap.

If you are a top team, you will have top internationals at your club. Whilst I agree International football is rubbish, it is here to stay and most countries have a huge affection for it.

Jesus we think that Wenger is tactically clueless - Chris Coleman is a fucking dinosaur. He's absolutely appalling. Wales have had one chance all half which was a header from the edge of the box.

Andorra hadn't scored a competitive goal for 4 years and have ONE professional player in their ranks. They have a bloke in CM who looks about 42 and 15 stone.
