Problems Selling Games on Ticket Exchange

Post by TheLoadedMonkey »

Hi,

This season I got a club level corner ST but my personal circumstances have now changed and can't make most home games. So I thought... how easy can it be to sell on TX!

So I tried to sell my Manc City game on TX and no one has purchased it yet. It has been on TX since Sunday and it appears to be locked (by someone leaving the ticket in their basket) and hence blocking the ticket from a genuine buyer. I have complained to the box office who then unlocked the ticket before the same issue is happening again. This is a joke because all I want to do is sell my ticket FV to genuine fan. Furthermore, I am a computer geek and I can see how someone unscrupulous could use various bots and browser plugins to exploit the TX system and block genuine fans/buyers. Is anyone aware of such practices?

Has anyone else had any issues with TX and Cat A games? Is there anywhere else I can sell my ticket safely at face value?

Regards,
Sam

Welcome to the forum.

Well, you have highlighted one of the many problems with Ticket Exchange - it isn't perfect. I don't use it often but have experienced the odd technical glitch and have had to call the Club.

However I thought that if you put a ticket in your basket you have only a limited time (30mins?) to purchase before it is freed up again. You may just be unlucky that people are selecting it and then deciding not to buy it (perhaps unsurprising for the eye-watering prices for Club Level - especially for a Category A game.)

Other options for selling your ticket - I think there is a Twitter feed for spare Arsenal tickets but I'm not a Twitter user so don't have details. There is also the awimb.com forum.

You could also use the "Ticket Transfer" or "Sell to a Friend" option on the online box office - I think the person you transfer or sell to has to have a membership number and an account with the online box office and will have to be added to the "My Network" section of your account.

Another option is to get involved with the banter on this forum - once you have been around for a while you can advertise your ticket for sale here on a game by game basis at face value.

One other thought is to get friendly with the people who sit around you and get their details - they may often be looking for an extra ticket for a friend or relative for the odd game.

Logging into the Exchange just now with my son's Junior Gunners membership I can see seats available in nearly every Upper Tier block, but the only corner Club Level seats showing at present are Block 81 Row 2 and Block 60 Row 5 - I don't know if one of them is yours?

First things first, pretty much all aspects of the ticket hub are proper *****. It's such a frustratingly crap system. Avoid it as much as possible.

I think Simon is also partly right. Technically a buyer only gets 20 mins to buy a ticket, after which time it should be released from their basket & freed up for someone else. Of course there could be errors in the system which are stopping this happening, I don't know.

But I think basically there is just not the demand for tickets that there was - they are a harder sell now and even more so with the crazy price of club level tickets. In fact it's not unusual to see plenty of people trying to shift them on Twitter for less than FV in the week before a game. Remember when games against Spurs, Utd, Chelsea etc would sell out within 5/10 mins of going on sale? Not any more, you can pick up seats without breaking into a sweat even up to a day or two before the game...

Its embarrassing how many tickets are still available V Citeh- should be a Cat B fixture next year IMHO. I know they are the title holders etc but of the Cat A games it must be the least attractive in terms of history etc :?

no games should be at category A prices. I refuse to go to any of them and if everyone else did the same then the pricing structure would quickly change.

What's the difference between Ticket Transfer vs Sell To A Friend anyway?

Would the "friend" be a non-member and issued a paper ticket, vs. the more straightforward Ticket Transfer to a Red?

Dunno - the one time I tried to use it, I couldn't get it to work!

However I think the "transfer" is effectively giving the ticket to some one for free and you may have to pay a small fee (£1?) to the club to transfer the ticket on to your friend.

"Sell to a friend" I think sends an email to the friend inviting them to buy the ticket through the club and giving them a timescale in which to accept and complete the purchase. Presumably the credit then goes back on to your account as with the ticket exchange.

I think that either way the recipient has to set up an account with arsenal.com and get a membership number. If they don't have a membership card, presume it's a paper ticket.

Happy to be corrected on this.

Ticket exchange does work, it's just the eye watering prices of club level that put people off.

I looked on ticket exchange for the game versus Spurs and there were some club level tickets for sale ...........at wait for it £291 each !!!!! So sorry to hear you can't sell yours but you obviously live in a different world from most of us , so i am sure you can cope with the loss of one match .
