IF YOU HAD A SPARE BILLION TO SPEND

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

IF YOU HAD A SPARE BILLION TO SPEND

Post by REB »

Spurs owner Joe Lewis is ready to sell the club.

Mirror Sport understands the 77-year-old businessman has wanted to cash in on his investment for some time and would now now like a staggering £1billion for the north Londoners.

There has so far been no interest as any potential buyers will need to assume the financial burden of the club’s new stadium - said to be around £400million.

But it is felt any takers would benefit from the increased revenue generated by the 56,000-seater venue, income from naming rights and TV cash.

Self-made billionaire Lewis controls ENIC International Ltd, which bought a controlling stake in Spurs from Alan Sugar back in 2001 for around £22million.

Tottenham insisted on Wednesday night there are no plans to relinquish control, but Mirror Sport understands the club are desperate for new boss Mauricio Pochettino to lead them back into the Champions League to increase the appeal to fresh investors.

Spurs revealed a fresh stumbling block earlier in the day relating to their stadium plans, as they now face having to play all of their home matches away from White Hart Lane for one season.

£1b

I wouldn't give you 50p for that shower of fucking shite!

I remember many years ago when they were up for sale for £1 although their accumulated debts at the time made their realistic price about £30m. At the time I wrote a letter to Arsenal suggesting we should buy them, close them down and use their ground as a training pitch (I was only young  ). I got a letter back from the club saying that they valued their special relationship with Tottenham and that our friendly rivalry is healthy for the sport. They therefore could not consider my suggestion as a viable option.

They did send me a scarf though to thank me for my support!

Thanks to FFP, hopefully the days of a Russian billionaire flying over London choosing a club to buy the title with are long gone otherwise this could actually be a slightly concerning story!

I know of a Dublin Gooner who writes to Arsenal every time we are (were, past tense, unfortunately :( ) looking for a new manager since Terry Neill was flicked. He'd write a full job application letter and include his CV (he coached kids' teams) and list his plans for the club and team going forward etc. He got an official written response every time, thanking him for his interest in the role but letting him down gently because of lack of experience etc. Apparently he has the letters framed on a wall in his house.

And apparently it was very close to happening until someone said, 'Roman, just come with me to SW London and have a look at another shithole of a club before making your decision'

In answer to the OP question, I feel the words "me and 42 women in massive cocaine sex orgy" best sum up what I'd do.

Patiently waits for OneBardEwokTard to replace word "women" with the word "men".....
