Previous Arsenal v Tiny totts (Highbury / Emirates)
Thought I had already done a thread but cannot find it (apologies if there is one, please merge)
There must be plenty of happy memories of matches gone by at Highbury.
5-2 x2 must be pretty high up there ?
Charlie Nicholas used to score a few V them but the best Derby goal for us at home probably Bergkamp's after Wright had tormented his marker ?

(mind you Adam's goal in the same match wasn't too shabby either)

This one was ok too - a little dribble from Henry

This one.
Ingenious improvisation, the take and immediate flick is extraordinary - no one could anticipate it. So deft.

Mixed for me...
Some not so great - the 4-4 and 2-3 debacles...
Some really great - like Pires always scoring a hat trick against them everytime he played them.
Well, it felt like he did at the time!
And that goal by The Dennis after Wrighty had humiliated the vermin to set it up was top drawer, one of the best.
Seen us beat them more than seen us lose - well the fact the vermin fucktards didn't beat us at our place for 17 years would dictate that!
One great win I'm gonna add even though it was at Wemberley was Adams' towering header in the cup semi in 93. Sweet sweet revenge for the 91 semi.
Special mention too for Rosicky's 2nd minute screamer last year at the swamp.

Dennis in the rain. 1996.
i stood three hours in the pouring rain and it was worth it to see that goal and THAT celebration.

Wow, where to start with this one?
My first NLD was at Highbury in 1990 I think ; an all ticket match, I can still picture the ticket now ; a square, pink, piece of paper with some kind of pin mark security thing on it.
I stood on the North Bank on my own, and was totally swept along by the atmosphere and loved every minute of it.
We won 2-0, late ish goals from Wright & Campbell I think.
There was also the fixture on the day that Rocastle passed away ; total respect to the Spurs fans there that day for the way they observed the minute's silence, fitting that Pires, wearing the famous number 7 scored the first goal before Henry tied Chris Perry up in knots.
Lots of draws in the mid 90s, until the Bergkamp / Adams finale in the rain ; the first time in about 3 or 4 years that we had beaten them I think.

My first NLD 1995 at Highbury.. Nasty atmosphere around that day, didn't witness any trouble but the pub after was full of talk about it. Wrighty pen after which he spat on the ground in front of the Clock End was equalised by a Klinnsman header. They had just lost 1-4 to Everton in the FA Cup semi and we were fresh from beating Sampdoria on penaltys in the ECWC semi so that was the focus of our chants.
Following day I went around to the stadium to witness an estimated 20,000 people queuing for tickets for the ECWC Final.

yup. the 1995 game was famous for Spuds fans celebrating at the final whistle like they'd won the league - for a 0-0 draw. i never heard again such vociferous scorn and laughter from the Clock End.TheCook wrote: Lots of draws in the mid 90s, until the Bergkamp / Adams finale in the rain ; the first time in about 3 or 4 years that we had beaten them I think.
previous year was 1-1. when the outpouring of joy was almost as bad.
the 1995 game really summed up for me what a small time club they are. We really are their Cup Final.
they also cheated for their goal - Lukic put it out for an injury and strolled back and some despicable spud kant - van den hauwe ? put it back in play and they scored.
but then we mullered them and the relief that we could shake off the stench of those small time kants finally was massive.
plus they smashed our lovely new Art Deco tiled bogs up.

For nasty atmosphere's you couldn't beat the games in the late 70s/early 80s
My first NLD would have been Peter Simpson's testimonial (Oct 76?) total carnage all round
A good memory from back then would be Stapleton's lob to make it 2-0 in 1980
A bad memory would be them winning 3-1 (Easter 1982)
both games accompanied by loads of them fuckers in the North Bank

fuck yeah - love the commentary "one of the greatest solo goals in premiership history..."
i think that is Ian Darke - he always seems to enjoy our goals more than the average TV spastic.

Up there with the guy who called Rosicky's goal v Sunderland last year. Tad bit of an overreaction.clockender1 wrote:fuck yeah - love the commentary "one of the greatest solo goals in premiership history..."
