MARTIN JOL TALKING OUT HIS ARSENAL

ottenham have the most fans in London, believes ex-Spurs boss Martin Jol.

Jol, currently out of work after being fired by Fulham last season, made the comments in an interview with TalkSPORT:

“They’ve got an unbelievable fan-base, when you go to London there are Spurs fans everywhere and Arsenal are second.

“They’ve got everything for them to be in the top four and to be a fantastic, successful, club.”

The two bitter North London rivals met last weekend, drawing 1-1, a result considered a success for Tottenham considering they lost three times to the Gunners last season and failed to score.

There isn't a statistical way to measure Jol's comments, which appear more anecdotal than borne out of any study.

Arsenal outsell Tottenham, but this is predictable due to their ground being of higher capacity.

Spurs are currently preparing to build a new stadium to address this, and Jol believes it will be a worthwhile venture.

He added: "All the ingredients are there for Spurs to be in the top four. They have the players, all they need to do now is gel together and try to create a team which can deliver."

i head to london on average 4-5 times a year and tbh i rarely see any tottnum shirts but you do see arsenal everywhere
even when theres no game on :?

There are more Arsenal fans in Tottenham than there are Tottenham fans

I hear the Chavs have a big fan base in south London, don't venture in those parts so I wouldn't know.

The Shadow knows. The Shadow see. The Shadow is all powerful. 8)

It probably seemed to Jol that there were loads of scum in London because of the ammount of hate mail he was receiving towards the end!

Yet they can't manage to fill their small shithole of a ground on those "Glory glory" sic European nights.

Aren't superfirm boys allowed out on a Thursday night ?

Laughable comments ,Arsenal are by far the biggest .
In my Youth Tottenhams main support came from Tottenham ,Edmonton,Chingford,Walthamstow , then there were the mixed areas like Hornsey,Wood Green,Turnpike Lane, Southgate. Further out Hoddesdon,Broxbournbe, Waltham Abbey Hetford and Cheshunt were all Spudlands .

Nowadays Only Chingford and Edmonton are solid Spurs the rest have Huge numbers of Arsenal as to the outlying areas mentioned above . Tottenham itself is a virtual Mogadishu overspill .

Meantime Islington remains and will always be an Arsenal stronghold !

Was a boozer up in Manor House we used to stay in on trips over called the Brownswood. Run by an Oirish girl who sadly died a few years ago. It used to be Arsenal then it was very tottingham for a while, then an uneasy mix (by all accounts) and then, during the spell we stayed there (late 90's through mid 2000's), it had reverted back to Arsenal. No idea what way it is now. Back in the day it was an old style dump of a pub/b&b but cheap as chips and a great place for the all night lock in if you were Oirish. :D 8)

I wouldn't say the The Brownswood was Manor House but its on Green Lanes .
I never drank there but there are a quite few of them around that area and in Stokey but I always
thought it was an Arsenal Pub .
Generally speaking and contrary to urban myth Spurs and Arsenal fans get in better than u think in Islington, particularly the Old School "firms" however they do have to find their own pubs to watch which are shall we say out of the way .

Not sure when your youth was, but I was at school in the 70s/80s. No way was Southgate a Spud area in those days, I went to Michenden School and there was tons more gooners, this was when sperz where competing for the league and winning FA/UEFA cups. Generally anything after Wood Green on the Picadilly line is and always has been Arsenal.

These days spuds support mainly comes along the train line out of Tottenham hale, so Cheshunt etc are scum strongholds. But its much more diluted in Enfield than it used to be especially around Enfield lock where you will see tons of red and white around.

With regards to the spuds support, when they can fill a 60,000 stadium with average prices well north of £50 I will start to take them more seriously. On second thoughts I wont !
