Time to bench Chesney/Goalkeeper problem?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Time to bench Chesney/Goalkeeper problem?

Post by Chippy »

Sorry to lock the other ancient threads but it was becoming confusing. After today's performance he probably derserves a whole new thread. I think he has the talent but needs better coaching.

If and when Ospina is fit then undoubtedly - why buy an international class keeper to have him sit there without threatening. Chesney has had these blips before and responds better to being dropped (like when Flapper had a run of games before)

He has become a worse GK since coming back to Arsenal from Brentford - It is our keeper Coaching team - They are notoriously BAD - Apparently the medical team and the G Keeping Coaching Team are one and the same!

Chesney should stay in the team, and prove to everybody that he actually learned something from today's farce.

Perhaps if he showed 100% commitment to improve, instead of trying to be entertaining the audience that would be the best way
for him to improve..............If ONLY? :(

I think he was overly highly exaggerated to early on in his career. Again the lack of faith he has in his defence I think speaks volumes of everything wrong within the club. Should this continue for another 2 years there will be without doubt highly significant consequences for the club.

Wenger should go gracefully at the end of the season. :?:

Ospina bring crocked for pretty much the entire time he's been here doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. I'd make him my no. 1 all the same because for every solid performance from Scez like the one at West Ham there's many more cluster fucks like today.

I thought the reason Ospina wasn't on the bench today was because he was crocked but just heard Le Fraud say it was because he will be starting against Hull. What sort of fucked up logic is that? Fucking idiot.

I don't give a fuck if he stood out at the Dog and Duck XI on loan, he was a mouthy *word censored* before he even started playing and from day one has just been an arrogant cock who thinks he's twice the player he is. I can't pretend I'd have enormous patience for any player that doesn't cut the mustard for AFC but it would be easier to stomach if he didn't treat every appearance like s game of Fifa round his mates.

Absolute fucking bellend. Sums up Arsenal under wenger in recent years actually, I hope he never plays another game. Our women's team have got two keepers both night rated in the womens game, might as well chuck one of those in. Makes me sick that he can develop this sort of attitude whilst the likes of de Gea and Courtois are four times the player he will ever be.

He's out of his depth, not a Premiership keeper. It's another example of Wenger thinking that if you make a player believe he is good enough he'll become good enough. Probably the worst 1st choice Arsenal keeper I've seen in over 30 years of supporting Arsenal.

If we want to have a go at defending the FA Cup then he we need Ospina in goal.

Move him on.

Agree. What makes it worse is he's been our uncontested no.1 for 4 fucking years! :banghead:

Only Almunia rivals him for incompetence, but at least he wasn't such a dolt.
