Re: if you need a goal
I believe the correct phrase is "if you need a goal you need Thierry Henry".
Can't remember what match it was though.

How much beer would you need in you to sing it about wellshit though ?

Re: if you need a goal
I remember many a good away day bouncing around singing it about Welbz to be fair, although by far the best was at Stamford Bridge when he took it upon himself to destroy Chelsea when we won 3-0. Good old Welbz, canny playeraugie wrote:VAVAVOOM 14 wrote:I believe the correct phrase is "if you need a goal you need Thierry Henry".

Re: if you need a goal
I think he's a decent enough player. I also think it is a sad day when players of his quality are referred to as 'shit' purely because he isn't Messi or Henry standard. Fucking pathetic in my opinion. Why is it that some supporters feel a sense of entitlement?
Lets think of a few more that we could give the same label to on that basis.
Aaron Ramshit
Ibrahimashit
Ruud Van Nistleshit
Cesc Fabreshit
etc.
etc.

Re: if you need a goal
Spot on. I said when you signed him that he was a good signing, gives a physical presence, can bring others into the game, always works his socks off (all teams need someone doing the hard graft), can do a job out wide or upfront. He should never be first choice at a club like arsenal but he's a very useful squad player. Won't get you fifteen a season like but he'll chip in and do his bit. You need better than him and giroud to be first choice but he is a hard working lad who deserves to be in the squad, deserves support and certainly isn't "shit" - shit players don't pay for man United, arsenal and get regular england gamesSPUDMASHER wrote:I think he's a decent enough player. In my defence (slightly), I always referred to him as wellshit when he was with manure so it would be a bit hypocritical for me to change now that he plays for us don't you think ?
Tbf I also think I should point out that there have been tons of Arsenal players on here that have been labelled as shit (and worse), so wellbeck isn't the first and certainly wont be the last.
For what it is worth I do feel slightly bad labelling him as wellshit - I absolutely agree that he works his bollox off for the team, and I would be the first to say how important that is, but at the same time I don't feel that is enough for a position as crucial as striker. At this level a team needs strikers that can be clinical with the few chances that come their way, and wellbeck doesn't come close imo - maybe he is a victim of circumstance as in he was another "make do" type of signing when everybody (except le cock) could see that we needed real quality, and now he is being expected to deliver at a level above his ability

Re: if you need a goal
I'd agree with that, he should be a squad player, not one expected to be lethal up front. Look at his career and he's a one in four striker - 20 in 90 league games for man united, so not a million miles off one in four, 6 in 26 at Sunderland so again, around one in four, 4 in 16 at arsenal. His overall record is 44 goals in 197 games so there or there aboutsaugie wrote:SPUDMASHER wrote:I think he's a decent enough player. That's actually a decent record for a young lad (still just 24), especially since he has spent large parts of his career shoved out on the left wing. It's the kind of record that makes him a good, versatile squad player and a sensible signing since he's young enough to improve (his touch needs to improve for starters). It isn't, however, a good enough record for a striker who is starting week in week out for a side hoping to challenge for honours. I like the lad and I just hope he doesn't become a boo boy or anything because he's doing his best and is a good player, it's not his fault that the manager is making him a regular starter when really he should be a squad option
Re: if you need a goal
Poor Seb, one of the only ones to put a shift in every week, needs stitches in a leg injury and instead of just substituting him since we're four down already, the arsehole, thankfully ex manager sends him back out limping onto the pitch, shocking way to treat someone who is up there as one of our best players this season (albeit being our best player is the epitome of being damned by incredibly faint praise, they're all shite)arseofacrow wrote:When he can be bothered to come out for the second half!safcftm wrote:Seb is mint mind, nee schwarz or bould but he's canny.
