Cried when he left Arsenal. True club legend for ALL the right reasons. Got to shake hands with him once

"Pleasant, modest and humorous, it was hard to upset him on or off the field. Alan Hansen relates that when, playing against him for Liverpool, he brought him down quite badly, Rocastle merely smiled at him and asked: "Getting old?"."

Re: Rocky 14th Anniversary
Met him twice in Dublin when Arsenal visited in 1989 and 1992. Treasured photographs with him. One developed badly, years later took it to a professional who couldn't improve the quality of the photo , but she took a photo of it and developed it in black and white. Now hangs in my home with the words "Forever Arsenal" underneath. Also have a photo of me with a friend and Ian Wright which Rocky took with my camera, he offered.
He truly was a gentleman , so into the supporters .

the ‘Winterburn – McClair’ Mass Brawl in 1990 at Old Trafford : Rocky said this:
“It was our team mate, our blood brother, in trouble. They were kicking Nigel like a nightclub brawl. That’s what got us upset. We went in there and we stuck up for each other. At Arsenal we never ever started any brawls – we just finished them”.

Rocky
I loved him. It wasn't just because of his skill but because he had the spirit and fight to go with it and he came up through the system and went on to play a key role in winning trophies.

Yes can agree with the Rocastle comments, also met him and shook his hand, and had a few words, really unassuming and likeable guy with a real charm, and off course not a bad footballer either, sadly missed.

If Rocky was still alive he would slag him off like every Arsenal great .He said DB10 was over-ratedGoose wrote:There was was a nice bit on talkshite this evening paying respects to Rocky. Even Adrian Dumbass couldn't spoil it.
