Boring Manchester Picadilly Station Pub

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Boring Manchester Picadilly Station Pub

Post by AJ1982 »

Fantastic Day out yesterday, went up on my own as my mate had some family event on (Unlucky Sir), so got talking to a lot of other gooners, and Mancs too.

Question I always ask about the pub at Picadilly Station, "WHY CAN WE NOT SING?", I never understand it. I appreciate its not really a football pub, but come on... Its the main entry point for Gooners (Mancs too!) so its logically the first point of call, for all away fans too. Everyone piles off the train, sees the pub, and its like a moth round a lamp.

Not to mention its a fair price for a pint, surely you can let us have some fun!!! Every other away pub I have been too is generally fairly relaxed about the odd chant, it doesn't do anyone any harm so why cant they chill out! I'm not asking for a 4 hour planned set, just the odd song to be allowed here and there!

Failing that, where are the "fun pubs" in Manchester that permit this "unruly behavoir"? Or am I just being too much of a kid.

AJ

PS - Did anyone check the guy chucking up at 12.30pm in this pub, 12.30 man come on!!! At least wait until half time, on the concourse, like the guy did at the Brighton away a few years ago.

I think you answered your own question, mate. I guess it's not a "football pub" and thus why you aren't allowed to sing as you might expect in an away pub. It's at a station as well and things are usually different

Put yourself in to the shoes of those who don't like football or are not interested in this game. Or of the pub knowing they have all sorts of fans coming through that station.

If you come out the station and walk 10 mins up the road to Openshaw there are many "fun pubs" where you will be able to sing as much as you want. I'm just not sure you will be singing very long though 8)
