A Question of Loyalty (15/1)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

A Question of Loyalty (15/1)

usual thread starter… I just finished typing my forum thread for the previous exclusive when this arrived in my email box. So let’s try and come up with a slogan which encapsulates this idea of not moaning continuously but getting behind the team. Something like ‘If you want to make noise, back the boys’ – but hey, the forum collective can do better than that. Suggestions please…

IN RESPONSE TO THE MAIN ARTICLE

What a bizarre article to be on the main site!

I generally read most of the main articles and find them interesting, sometimes stimulating and frequently informative. This article does none of that and I cannot imagine how it qualified as a main page feature.
It's all quite fair that the writer has his say to which he is undoubtedly entitled, but his piece was no more than a forum posting and a very average one at that!
What did we learn from it.....nothing
How did it stimulate us...despairingly
Of what interest was it.....very little

Now I know I am going to get criticised for this posting but at least it is where a post belongs, on the forum!

Lets re-raise the bar fellas!

IN RESPONSE TO GOONER.ED's INTRO POST

I don't think we, the collective forum members do moan continuously. We moan when we are unhappy and we praise when we feel it is warranted.

On a lighter note. If we come up with a really good slogan should we copyright it before the club try to steal it

thought this was a top read and agree totally with what was said. As we, and the likes of manure know, there is a price to pay for being succsesful, that being the ranks of numpties who now populate our ground and have jumped on the bandwagon since 98.

I'm with Spudmasher on this. I didn't think much of the article.

There is a general tendency on this forum , but also very evident elsewhere, to criticise anyone who is a slightly less loyal fan. So anyone who has only recently become a fan - perhaps attracted by the quality of football we now play - is fair game.

So what if people are new ? They should still be welcomed to the fold.

And what is wrong with a world wide fan base even if they are not totally committed or ever get to see the team?

If the Arsenal kit had been in stock and the Japanese family had bought one, would the writer of the piece have complained? The club needs to raise funds from somewhere if it wants to compete in the top European market. I'd much rather the funds came from overseas supporters, however tenuous their support, than a rise in the cost of my season ticket.

I have been known to have a moan on the forum mainly about the clubs transfer policy. But i will always support the club through thick and thin.I never ever leave early and would never think of boo-ing the team. But it would be a very boring site if everyone agreed on everything and everyone was happy with the way the club is run.The great thing about this forum is its an open debate and you dont have to agree on everything

I agree with the author of the peice - not about any criticism of people on this forum, in general they are a rational bunch.

A lot of these people are tabloid influenced - stuff that's written in the tabloids tend to portray anything as utterley utterley wonderful or utterley utterly atrocious with no middle ground whatsoever.

Like I said re: our current form, two games lost in all competitions since the Emirates Cup. If we remember the doom and gloom of the summer I'd have given my right bollock for the title challenge that we're in now.

I am shocked at this article, People that moan about swearing are Probably the same bunch who bang on about the crap Atmosphere! dont get me wrong sometimes people can go to far, but at the end of the day its a football match, lets not forget that! Could you Imagine if someone started Whingeing about swearing in the north bank in the 70s, They would be kicked out! haha.
These are the same old farts, who dont like new fans,!! (shocking) They wont be happy until its complete silence, so they can enjoy there stinking sweaty £7 pies, and leave ten mins early!

SHUT UP MOANING! AND PUT YOUR EFFOR INTO SINGING UP FOR THE ARSE

I think some people are missing the point, it's not about new fans, every club has to attract new fans or it will not survive, the problem is with some people who have attached themselves to our club they have no real passion, these are the people who continuously moan when we are not 5 up in the first 10 mins, and worst of all these people in general are quite affluent therefore they buy the pies at seriously high prices keeping them high, they will buy the tickets at what ever price (as long as we are successful) thus keeping ticket prices high, they give the club the impression that than can charge whatever they like for anything which is pricing many fans new or old out of the club and this is slowly changing the face of football not just at our club, you hear the same moans at chelsea man u liverpool.
New supporters do not take it personally we were all new once it's the tarquins of this world that are pissing people off.
