McClaren sacked
Shocking news.
Basket-case and soon to be relegated club Newcastle have just sacked the clueless McClaren. Benitez favourite to take over, although fuck knows why he'd want anything to do with them.

Re: McClaren sacked
I can't imagine Benitez going there. From Real Madrid to Newcastle, don't think so. Probably Mike Ashley's PR Bullshit machine trying to give the illusion of ambition.

Re: McClaren sacked
I'd be amazed if he isn't replaced by any of the old reliable's; Curbishley, Hughes, Allerdyce, Pulis, Monk, Sherwood, Pardew, Pearson, Rogers etc etc - you know the merry-go-round of shit PL managers.

Re: McClaren sacked
can't see him ever getting a premier league gig for a long time, if at all.
Hopefully they can now do us a favour against Leicester on Monday, a new manager can often get immediate results. They then have two massive games against Sunderland and Norwich (slightly rooting for Newcastle to stay up as its always a brilliant away day up there, great city).

McClaren takes over a club that have been fighting relegation on the last day of the past two seasons, and they expect him to turn it around in just 7 months ??
The guy might not be the best manager ever, but he certainly deserved more time than he got - they have had years of under-investment and that is the main reason for their plight imo.
Yes they have invested this season, but foreign players rarely adapt straight away and especially if they are coming into a club and team that are badly struggling. Shelvy and townsend are probably good signings for where they are and what they need, but their club and squad are in an awful mess and they will need to go down to sort it out

He was an appalling appointment to begin with. He has never fared well in the Premier League, so why on earth did they decide on him is where the question should really be pointed.augie wrote:McClaren takes over a club that have been fighting relegation on the last day of the past two seasons, and they expect him to turn it around in just 7 months ??The guy might not be the best manager ever, but he certainly deserved more time than he got - they have had years of under-investment and that is the main reason for their plight imo.

Maybe good as an assistant manager or in the Dutch League, but not in the UK. I will always remember him as probably the only gaffer using an umbrella during a match.

And yet, and despite spunking £80-odd million quid, the management team decided that a defence consisting of Coloccini, Steven Taylor, and Jack Colback at left-back didn’t need reinforcing. Obviously can't lay all the blame at Shteeve's door, but it's a pretty piss-poor state of affairs.
Fuck ‘em.

Painted his teeth white and started talking shite; the writing was on the wall from then on.
Re: McClaren sacked
His career is in tatters now.
Newcastle is a cluster-fuck of a club. They should be fighting for Europe every season but are stuck with a tightwad fat Scum fan cunnt as owner. Living proof that to overload the club with French speakers and mercenaries doesn't work for team cohesion.
I remember when we were the underdogs when we played them in the mid 90s - That PL era and Newcastle side was something else.
If you take the frustrations from our nine year drought and multiply it by five and a bit, you'll know what shit their fans have been through. I wish they hadn't bottled the title under Keegan.

Keegan’s side was exhilarating to watch; I’d have “luvved it” if they had beaten Utd to the title.Sean wrote:His career is in tatters now.

Holy shit, can't believe Rafa has gone there, especially with Gary circling the drain at Valencia.

Yes I agree totally regarding the lack of purchases in the defensive area, but isnt it generally accepted that their managers are not the one's who sign their players ?
