England base during the Euros
England base during the Euros
Been watching the news piece on SSN with regards to England's base in north France and I can't understand why they don't base themselves at St Georges park and fly over for the matches?
Given the renovation of the pitch and facility's needed to get their base up to professional standard, are FA paying towards the work?
Seems like a huge waste of money, and given the security fears in France and Belgium staying in the at home would be best for the English, Irish and Welsh players.

Would be a good idea for our Oirish lads to just fly in and out for the sum total of the 3 games they will be involved in!

I've heard that the one Scotland pre-booked is available at a very reasonable price

All joking aside, I can see where Nos89 is coming from - when you think how hard it will be to have tightened security in paris, how the fcuk will they be able ensure safety at all the other venues and city's ? I certainly wouldn't go to these championships even if I got the entire trip for free

Are you Oirish boys not just having an anti-France strop after TH14's handball?augie wrote:All joking aside, I can see where Nos89 is coming from - when you think how hard it will be to have tightened security in paris, how the fcuk will they be able ensure safety at all the other venues and city's ? The FIFA tournament rules state that you can have a training base outside the country before the tournament but must base yourself inside the country hosting the event, I think at least three days before the tournament begins. During the 2010 World Cup, Germany wanted to be based in Namibia and Portugal in Mozambique, but FIFA rules prevented them from doing so. It's the same for all their tournaments.

Wasn't it Robbie Keane who got a couple of dodgy penalties after that (against smaller nations) and then......silence.

Yea right I can just imagine the England players and the WAGS being holed up near Burton on Trent for 2 weeks !Nos89 wrote:Been watching the news piece on SSN with regards to England's base in north France and I can't understand why they don't base themselves at St Georges park and fly over for the matches?

The Shops of Burton are more suited to Primark than Armani !

Well, as I live in Derby I feel complelled to point out that we do indeed have some quality shops befitting of a bevy of WAGs. Admittedly, they're concentrated around only 1 or 2 streets, with the rest of derby city centre being overtaken by chavs and homeless drunkards, but it's still a great city

Come up 'ere and see it, me duck.
