Pre Match Song

got me thinking on sunday listening to sunderland playing can't help falling in love with you as the players entered the pitch, why a similar song doesn't exist for us. overlooking good old arsenal and the wonder of you (at the bowl) we've never really pressured the club to find a new song.

stumbling around youtube and i remember this old ditty, now i don't know who recorded it, if it was any official connotations with the club or was just a fanchant (judging by the mention of brady and supermac must be late seventies, maybe a '78 cup final song) but this sounds really appropriate. maybe if it was re-recorded like the yellow ribbon song it could be adopted? i'll leave it here and ask you if you've ever heard this one before, it sounds familiar but I don't know much about it.

just had a look and it actually was the cup final song from '78, recorded by the players. such a shame it didn't get the attention it deserved

The club released a single for one of the early wenger cup finals, and it had a B side called A Goal - it was a song that was written about Arsenal and had ian wright doing lyrics somewhere in the middle when he talks about the club being founded in 1886 and he lists out the various titles we had won over the years. To my mind it would be the type of song that would be perfect as the teams are coming out on the field and it isn't no pop type of song

If any of you can source it, you should listen to it and see what you think

That's ridiculous. Our club was built in the last 20 years by Arsene..where does this 1886 stuff come from?

Sung by Finbarr Wright , it is a decent song, never heard it before to be honest. There was a song from the early seventies called Gunners Kings of London, bit corny but catchy all the same.

Wenger mentioned our 140 history last week. There's no way one of the worlds leading accountants would get his numbers wrong
