Championship playoffs

Post by M3Gooner »

Sheffield weds 2-0 up so far and looking good to making it to the final.

I was hoping Brighton would pip Middlesborough to automatic and Wednesday to come up through the play offs.

Who do you like to see come up?

brighton would have been quality, loads of boozers there.

shef weds is a decent club, the sort that could really stabilize and become a fixture in the premier league for a while, but something about them fucks me off. derby deserve it, great support, got totally humiliated last time they were up so wouldn't mind them.

hull can fuck off, boring little fucking place.

Hillsbrough used to be a bogey ground of sorts for us. wouldn't mind seeing Sheffield weds return to the big time though.

Ambivalent as to Brighton really - would just be another novelty club up here like Blackpool or Bournemouth.

Wouldn't mind Derby. Fuck Hull.

I would like to see either brighton or derby get promoted - I know it might not be popular around here but I like chris hughton (in a non homosexual way of course  ) going back to his time as a player with Ireland.

Even though I have always liked Sheffield Wednesday as a club, I really don't way them to be promoted - can you imagine the media bullshit when the victims travel to play at Hillsborough ? The justice for 96 campaign will be wheeled out again, and there will surely be some sort of wreath laying/commeration service/live concert/bingo night to mark the occasion

My mate supports Brighton, so I'd like them to come up and do a Swansea/Bournemouth. They have a great new stadium and PL-level infrastructure. Unfortunately for them, they are also a poor-man's Arsenal.

I'd like to see Brighton come up but it seems that Sheffield Wednesday are destined to come up this year. With all the coverage of Hillsborough It seems people have forgotten that a football club plays there.

There are three trophies for the Championship.. The winners (obviously) , the runners up trophy and the play off trophy.. Crazy stuff..I think the idea of the third to sixth place teams in a league after 46(?) games playing off to get to a Wembley final and promotion is contradictory to the concept of a league. I think it is morally wrong also.A league is a league and a Cup competition is a cup competition..
The play offs do throw up good games but I don't like the idea of them.

Would be fantastic to see a proper old big club with a proper ground back in the PL, so hope Sheffield Wednesday make it. One of the grounds I miss the most, rather than these identikit offerings that are springing up everywhere at the moment

Remember being there when Di Canio shoved the ref over

I remember sharing some really good banter with a load of Wednesday fans, before our league cup final match, both on the tube and around the ground. They were good lads and Wednesday are a decent sized club, so I'm happy to see them promoted.

Mind you, a weekend at the seaside or a weekend in Sheffield doesn't bear comparison.

Shame Brighton appeared to have fucked up. Just down the road from me (25 miles) liked their ground which is a bit out of the city, but a decent ground , in the now trafitional bowl style.

Couldn't agree more but at least it's not as bad as the egg chasers situation. Saracens finished top of the league by a country mile but now have to go into a playoff with the next three teams to see who will be "champions". So the team finishing a distant fourth can still take the crown. Ridiculous. Oh, hang on a mo......... :hmmthink:

I would like to see Hull promoted as it's just down the road from me and Brighton as a mate of mine is a Brighton fan and they deserve to be promoted. Failing that, might as well be Sheffield as that is not too far away. Another trip to the Riverside looms. That said, I'm hoping to leave the frozen north soon.

I agree, it's crazy. Brighton just failed in their last two matches, now they could be left out in the cold. I agree about the rugby too. Sometimes teams have late runs and go into the play-offs with good momentum and on form. They should do a play off with the 3rd top in the Championship and the third bottom in the Prem, that would make it more interesting.

That was the case when they first started - I seem to recall Chelsea didn't get relegated due to winning against the championship team (then div 1)
