Arteta’s Tray of Ice Cubes in a Sauna v Keegan’s King Bottlers Caraboa Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg Wednesday 5th February 8pm

Post by Limerick Gooner »

They are not in form and their fans are shitting themselves now as they thought they were already in the Final. Look like a few injuries to key players too.

Can we go up there and resurrect this tie? I would love it if we did.

The mighty Bournemouth and Fulham have managed to roll them over up there and score six between them

I'm sure Burn will be back to looking like prime Moore when we go up there

If Arteta has perfected his Arsene impression he should know that glorious second leg failure is the done thing - so a 1-0 win is what's needed here

If you told me we went up there on Wednesday night and rolled them over and then beat Spurs in the final I’d be a very very happy man.

If we score early against this bunch of gobby, whiny, trophy-ignorant, hypocritical peasants, they'll crumble. We won't but might win it 1-0 and then miss two easy chances near the end. Who needs a striker, eh?

I can see us going here and winning 1-0 or 2-1 and going out with glorious failure.

"Difficult place to come and get something"

"I am super proud of the players."

" I think we are very close in so many areas."

"I don't talk about transfers or other players."

"Let's see where we are this time next year."

It's the hope that kills you eh?

Well we cant be any more confident after today's win. I only hope young Ethan is given the chance to run at that plodding backline

My lad is driving up there and back on the night - must be fucking mental but nothing that we didn't do back in the day I suppose

Hope for the sake of the travelling Gooners we pull off the great comeback. I shall be watching it on my hols in the Canaries - a bit more middle aged and civilised :D

We’ll sign Watkins but still start Sterling as a false 9. :barscarf:

It's a big ask, but even if not winning by 3 goals, we ought to be capable of winning by 2 and taking it to penalties. There can be no bigger boost to our confidence than the win today and the way we played in that last half an hour, but therein lies the rub....we have to lose the safety first, possession for possession's sake mindset, move the ball quickly and be prepared to take risks. That doesn't mean stupidly gung-ho, but it's risk and reward and that second half today showed that you win nothing without being positive. The cautious way we played after our first goal today played us into trouble. It was upping the tempo that got us out of it.

Of course, they can sit back right from kick-off and look to hit us on the break, which is exactly what they did at our place and if they score first, then it's all over. However, we can't change that situation, so can't worry about it. Get on the front foot and if we can score in the first 25 mins, they'll start to get edgy and won't know whether to stick or twist.

I just hope that we don't revert to usual form and play the slow, turgid, tippy tappy football in front of their defence, which is exactly what they'll want. Be bold, go for it and prove that we've learnt something from today.

it looks like we have no game at the weekend so it will be a full strength team and lets hope we turn up on the front foot. Confidence should be sky high , the 1st goal is even more important in this one.

The game isn't over quite yet.

Sterling is a false footballer not a false 9 !!
