Hope the referee is strong..They are going to try every sly dirty trick in the book Choke the life out of the game for the first thirty minutes , and see them get frustrated...Arsenal need to be organised and disciplined...

I fear an early non red. They make Fergie’s hold over refs look like amateur hour.

The diving and cheating will be on a level as yet unseen in the annals of football.

Do we stick or twist over there??
Knowing what we’ve just done is there any reason not to go at them and do the same, or a slightly more cautious approach which could invite them onto us?

Hopefully saka is ok.
We need to get a goal out there to finally put it to bed.
Next week will be like the cirque du soleil

This is where Arteta earns his huge salary. He has to decide and set us up correctly so that having won an amazing battle we don't then go and amateurishly lose the war over there. He has to find that rightly balanced approach for this one.
We are capable on our day of drawing or winning the tie over there. But unfortunately we are equally capable of throwing it away foolishly.
They are also capable on their day of easily scoring 4 or 5 against most teams, but I think defensively we should be good enough to win it.
Nick an early goal and I think they will implode.
The key for me is Arteta not going flat out and equally not being too defensive and then of course, there is the refereeing. We need a strong ref almost above everything else.

Already bricking it
If we don't concede in the first 20-25 mins, their fans will start get really restless and hopefully it'll open up in the second half.
Avoiding defeat there would be a monumental achievement.

Bit of an Anfield 89 situation. Keep it nice and tight 1st half, then second half it could open up for us to take advantageDB10GOONER wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 7:48 amThis is where Arteta earns his huge salary. Seems like we're all on the same page when it comes to knowing how Madrid will approach this. With the white hankie brigade ready baying for blood, their players will behave like utter c.unts from first minute to last. I've said times many when Sky ***** themselves over El Classico, I'd rather watch the family of snails who live down the bottom of my garage climbing up the walls, than I would waste my time watching any of that old shite. Card waving wankers surrounded the ref screaming for one of ours to be sent off. By the way it happens to EVERY visiting team to the Bernabeu, much I'm sure to the dismay of Limerick Le Tissier who will be finding out how much the VAR studio and referee on the day have hated Arsenal since the year dot! Go to Barca or Real and expect cheating and theatrics that are off the scale compared to anything in the PL and expect every ref to get swayed by the continual harrassment and bullying tactics they employ - its not anti-Arsenal, its anti-football and anti-sportsmanship.
I can't be a hypocrite and say I wish the away goals rule was back in play because I was an advocate of it being scrapped, but wouldn't it have been a lovely added bonus to last night's result. I don't see anyone scoring 5 against us, so an away goal in this one would have seen it all over for sure.
As has been said here already and stands to reason, the long we frustrate the team and the crowd there will be increasing desperation and the game will open up. With a fit Saka and rejuvinated Martinelli on the break, I'd back us to score again.
Would love to knock these fuckers out because it sparks an absolute meltdown and tantrum amongst their entitled fanbase.
A long night for us for sure. Can only hope those nursing knocks or feeling fatigue are rested for the Brentford game. Much as it pains all of us to see those Mickeys c.unts win the league at a canter despite having been shite for the past few games, we have to accept the game is up and we're definitely going to finish top 5
A helter skelter 2-2 draw in Madrid to see us through !

Re: Real Madrid A Big lugs quarter final 2nd leg Weds April 16th KO 8pm
As DB says, this is what the manager earns the big bucks for. The first 25 minutes are crucial and if we concede early, it could get very nasty. They’re sure to come at us straight out of the traps, with all guns blazing and it will be wave after wave if we sit with everyone behind the ball with no out ball to play.
The trouble is, we don’t have a potent threat up front, who can loiter on the half way line and occupy the two centre halves and probably also a defensive midfielder, to stop them squeezing up in our half. This won’t happen of course, but I’d be tempted to start either Trossard or Nwaneri and play Martinelli through the middle. He has the pace to chase a long ball and keep their defence honest. That, of course, would mean benching Merino.
Difficult decisions, but I think we need to pose a threat, rather than sit everyone deep, invite them on and try to keep hold of what we’ve got. Once you start with a defensive mind set, it’s difficult to change that during the game if needs be.
Bottom line, I just want us to give a good account of ourselves, just as we did last night. Do that and with a 3-0 lead, we ought to comfortably progress. Just don’t collapse and go out with a humiliating whimper.

The lickspittle has come in from the cold having lambasted the side. Now he wants to cosy back up whilst having pops at people who have a balanced take and back the side throughout. Maybe it's actually the lovechild of US Marty and Highbury JD as we've got another member of the superfan club on board now by the looks of things, except this one isn't living inside Islington Town Hall, this one is up a lamppost with his binoculars out peering into PGMOL headquarters for those wearing Liverpool scarves
