so is the general feeling that ade's good now?

Ade is a great player! how many times have you lost your temper with someone you work with? we have to remember these players are human and can react in a bad way and in good ways, The fact ade lost it shows he doesnt like losing to the scum maybe if we had 10 other players like that tuesday we might of made a game of it

im a player like that, if i dotn get the ball you will know about it or if you do something i think is wrong then you will know about it, so i cant really complain. i just dont like to see it in an arsenal team especially against them lot.

FOR SOME OF US - ALBEIT A MINORITY - THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN FAITH IN AND FOR ADEBAYOR, AND AN APPRECIATION OF WHAT HE BRINGS TO THE SIDE. I WROTE THIS ON THE NEWCASTLE THREAD BUT I SUPPOSE IT IS MORE APPROPRIATE HERE.

AS FOR ADE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S GOING TO TAKE TO CONVINCE SOME PEOPLE. INDEED, I BELIEVE SOME WILL NEVER ADMIT THEY WERE WRONG BECAUSE ALTHOUGH HE IS SCORING LOTS OF GOALS NOW, I STILL KEEP HEARING/READING DIFFERING REASONS AS TO WHY 'HE ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH'.

AT FIRST THE REASON WAS THAT ADE MISSED TOO MANY EASY CHANCES. AS HIS GOALS-TO-CHANCES RATIO HAS IMPROVED THIS SEASON (WHICH NO-ONE CAN DENY), IT WAS THE LUDICROUS CLAIM THAT HE WAS LAZY. NOW YOU CAN ACCUSE HIM OF LOTS OF STUFF BUT BEING LAZY IS DEFINATELY NOT ONE OF THEM.

THAT WAS SOON FOLLOWED BY THE ACCUSATION THAT, LIKE HENRY, ADE IS ARROGANT AND PLAYING THE ROLE OF 'BILLY BIG BOLLOCKS". AGAIN, THAT IS NOT SOMETHING I HAVE NOTICED AT MATCHES AND HAS ONLY ARISEN SINCE THE BENDTNER INCIDENT. SOMETIMES A PLAYER JUST CAN'T WIN WITH THE FANS. IF HE ISN'T PUTTING HIMSELF ABOUT, HE 'DOESN'T WANT IT' AND LACKS PASSION. WHEN HE DOES, AND SHOUTS AT TEAM-MATES OR DEMONSTRATES EVEN ANY INKLING OF DISAPPOINTMENT AT A BAD PASS, WRONG CHOICE ETC. THEN HE IS LABELLED AS GETTING TOO BIG-HEADED.

THERE WAS EVEN THE ACCUSATION THAT WITH ADE IN OUR SIDE, WE STOPPED PASSING AND BEGAN 'ONLY PLAYING THE LONG BALL', WHEREAS SOME OF US ARGUED THAT HAVING ADE IN THE TEAM IN FACT GAVE US THE OPTION WE DIDN'T HAVE PREVIOUSLY: TO PLAY MORE THAN ONE WAY WITHIN A MATCH (A PLAN B) BECAUSE ADE HAS MUCH MORE TO HIS GAME THAN JUST BEING A 'BIG MAN'.

FINALLY THERE IS THE CLAIM THAT ANYONE WOULD SCORE GOALS IN THIS TEAM. REALLY? HAVE PEOPLE SEEN THE WIDE RANGE AND TYPES OF GOALS ADEBAYOR HAS SCORED THIS SEASON? HEADERS WHERE HE HAS JUMPED AND HUNG IN THE AIR BEFORE POWERING HOME (ALAN SMITH WAS THE LAST TIME WE HAD ONE OF THOSE); ONES WHERE HE IS BEATING DEFENDERS FOR SKILL AND PACE ALA HENRY; SHOTS FROM OUTSIDE THE BOX LIKE THE VOLLEY AT THE LANE; TAP-INS; HE EVEN ASSISTS IN SETTING UP MANY OF THE OTHER GOALS WE HAVE SCORED.

SOME ARSENAL FANS HAVE OFTEN WISHED THAT WE HAD A DROGBA TYPE PLAYER IN OUR LINE UP WHO NOT ONLY GIVES US A PHYSICAL PRESENCE UP FRONT, BUT SCORES PLENTY OF GOALS AS WELL. BELIEVE IT OR NOT - AND DESPITE MY ARGUMENTS, SOME OF YOU STILL WON'T - WE FINALLY HAVE ONE IN THE SHAPE OF ADEBAYOR. AND GUESS WHAT? WHETHER YOU'LL ADMIT IT OR NOT, HE IS DOING A BLOODY BRILLIANT JOB FOR ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB!!

I wasn't 100% sure about Adebayor before the start of the season but he has scored loads of goals for us now, so I am happy. I already liked him last season because he was hard-working up front and could lead our team from the front, like he did against Man Utd a Old Trafford when we won 1-0. He is quite young as well, only 23 but he's already got loads of international and club-level experience. Wenger is happy with him and Ferguson wanted to sign him when Henry left us in the summer; that's two world-class managers who like him, they are bound to be right about him.

Much of what you say is spot on, Mr IHH, but to be fair to those who are or have been anti-Ade, the Billy Big Bollocks/arrogance accusations have been flying around for quite a while. Certainly from well before last Tuesday.

OKAY, YOU MAY WELL BE RIGHT THERE. HOWEVER, HOW DO PEOPLE JUDGE WHETHER SOMEONE IS BEING ARROGANT? IS IT THE SHRUG OF THE SHOULDERS/ BERATING OF A TEAM-MATE/ CONSTANT DEMAND FOR THE BALL? WERE THE LIKES OF ZIDANE, BERGKAMP OR EVEN WRIGHTY ARROGANT? WHAT IS THE CRITERIA THAT HAS TO BE MET BEFORE THAT ACCUSATION CAN BE LEVELLED AT YOU? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHO ARE THE JUDGES AND HOW ARE THEY QUALIFIED TO MAKE SUCH STATEMENTS?

YES, FOOTBALL IS A GAME OF OPINIONS, BUT IF FOOTBALL FANS - INCLUDING JOURNALISTS - KNEW EVEN A 1/10 OF WHAT THEY THINK THEY KNOW ABOUT THE GAME, THEN MAYBE THERE WOULD BE LESS NONSENSE SPOKEN/WRITTEN ABOUT FOOTBALL AND WITH THAT, LESS ACRIMONY ASSOCIATED WITH THE GAME. 8)

Ade has certainly done better then I thought he would, I thought he would prove himself to the realists that he is a top quality striker but not get so many so quickly. Ah that was a fun summer...

IHH arrogance is something thrown at people when they dislike the guy and can't find better reasons to say "sell him, sell him" then disrupting team spirit. While we were Invincible, how many would call Henry arrogant? When things were not going well and our captain acted as usual, it came to stick to beat him with. Ade is defying people who thought he would be poor and so some of them want a stick to beat him with. I remember these charges started when his goals dried up early on in the season, may be wrong here and people said it before but only seems that way in my head.

Admittedly arguing and headbutting your team mates is a very good stick

I'm still torn with Yabba. I do rate him as a striker and a target man and a hold-the-ball guy. Indeed, I have a friendly pint bet with Tony Saunders that Yabba will finish as our top scorer this season. :P

But...

He is still clumsy and often makes the wrong decisions with regard to where to run and when to pass. Also, I've seen an incredibly arrogant side to his game too. The hands on hips, hands in the air gestures to team mates that don't do what he wants or deliver the ball where he wants it or (God forbid) take a shot rather than pass to him... That shit really p*ssed me off with THBW14 towards the end of his time with us and it's really starting to bug me with Yabba. Big time.

Now I know most world class strikers have a certain amount of arrogance in their make up but Yabba ain't world class yet... If they could knock that petulence out of him I'd like him a lot more. :?

I've got to agree that I am still torn on Ade. There are times when he frustrates the crap out of me. Overall I think he is good enough but he will never be an Henry or Wright at Arsenal.

Let's hope he proves me wrong :?

Ade has an almost impossible task of having to fill the gap left by TH14. For me it was not just the number of goals that Henry scored, it was the manner in which he scored them,

Ade could score 200+ yet still be viewed as crap in comparison with TH14

Its not that I don't like Ade, but he isn't TH14 and thats what I want, a true replacement with bags of skill, pace, class and the ability to make me think, "how the fcuk did he just do that?"

Sorry Ade right place wrong time

Yes he has had a great season but he has too prove himself at the highest level in the CL.And with the exception of the goal at Manure last season his scoring record against the other big 3 teams is poor.I have to admit i am still one of those who is still split on him.

Our record of creating goalscoring chances against those 3 hasn't exactly been great either.

I have said this numerous times so forgive me if I sound like a broken record

Both John Terry and Rio Ferdinand said Adebayor was the hardest player they have played against
