Arsenal Players that you've met

Post by ABO »

Have you met any and did they live up to your expectations?

I met Freddie at camden market (oooer!) the day after we beat deportivo 6-1 in the CL and he was nice as pie and shook my hand!

After Blackburn away this season we stopped at Knutsford services and Theo came in, I collared him and he signed my shirt :P he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights! nice lad, barely said a word..obviously quite shy!

The rush when you meet a player is unbelievable! :)

I met Eddie McGoldrick (among many others over the years) at a friendly against a non-league club and took the oppurtunity to tell him that he was shite and I would personally pay for him to go back to Palace!

I got a growl from him but as he is a dwarf he didn't pipe up too loud!

Met Hoyte & Walcott at my Grandad's boxing club for the Arsenal kickz project

Ian Wright at Heathrow airport & was kind enough to have a classic photo with me as a little kid as my Mum sceamed the place down & he droped his phone while he was speaking on it

Perry Groves twice once at Borders for his book signing & the Arsenal shop

Dennis Bergkamp in the old clock end car park after football tranining, it was on the night of Lee Dixon's testimonal v Madrid

Charlie George i've met plenty of times as the family know him

The Beast, Gilberto, Lauren, Johan & Cesc in the Arsenal shop last christmas

Terry Neil, Paul Davis & Sammy Nelson at a DVD lanch of the old history of Arsenal in the North Bank a few years ago

Bob Wilson at Borders signing his book, had a chat with him for ages & one of the best Arsenal players i've met

Traore after a game once near the Sobell just getting a take away with my mate & he spotted him & went over & stopped over the side of the road just to have a photo in his car with my mate, great thing was this was after the Tottenham away game at the start of the season & i was trying to dare my mate to ask about what happened

The whole team at the Barnet game, shame i never had my camera ready & a autograph book or something as i stood there for like half hour waiting for them & then just shaking there hand among them was Wenger, Clichy, Gilbert, Alummia etc etc etc

I might have gone on abit too much as always

I've never happened to run into any, but went to two JG Xmas Parties 2 years in a row, when i was 9 or 10.

Totally shit myself. Marc Overmars and Dennis Bergkamp (still two of my all time heroes) were on the tables beside mine.

I still look at the pictures and i smiled in hardly any of them

The best was Alberto Mendez because I was probably the only person who went to him

well he may well have been at Merse's Testimonial dinner where i met most of that lot, but i'd have probably either ignored him or not noticed him.

Met Ian Wright outside Talksport's studio in the South Bank. Top man but fucking hell, it was such a shock to see him so aged compared to 10 years ago.
