Spare a thought for my mum tonight
Spare a thought for my mum tonight
When I was going to matches every week, I always had a worry at the back of my mind. What would happen if someone got ill, or died, on the eve of a big match? I’m sure non-football fans have other concerns in life, but this one really bothered me. But I was lucky and have survived into my late 40’s without losing anyone close (inside or outside the football season).
So, now that I don’t get to go to nearly as many games, it’s ironic that my long suffering (from a football perspective) mum finds herself spending her last few days on this earth….at the same time as Arsenal prepare for the game v Milan. I’ll be at the hospice this afternoon – and sleeping there again tonight. But I am still planning on taking the boys to the game. My cousin is on standby should she take a turn for the worse.
My mum and dad will, of course, understand as they’ve had to put up with my obsession for over 30 years!
So anyway. While hopefully celebrating victory tonight, I’d also appreciate it if you could spare a thought for my Mum – and maybe even say a little prayer if you are into that sort of thing.
Thanks.

Real sorry to hear about her. I'm in a similar position at the moment with my Father having had a stroke on Saturday. I don't think it is the end for him yet but is still a tremendous worry. I've spent countless hours at the hospital since then as he is alone owing to my Mother being in Spain for her Mothers last few days. I'm going tonight and I hope that the lads do something to cheer us all up.
All the best and try to take your mind off it for an hour and a half.

HAD THE SAME DEAL FEW YEARS BACK JUS B4 XMASS, WE PLAYED CHAVS ON THE SUNDAY I THINK, AND GOT A PHONE CALL WHEN GAME FINISHED TO GO HOSPTITAL. WE ALL TURNED UP BUZZIN FROM THE RESULT, HE DIED THAT NIGHT, SO THE LAST TIME WE SAW HIM AND HIM US WE WERE ALL HAPPY. WAS QUITE NICE WHEN U THINK ABOUT IT.
PERHAPS THAT WIN WAS ENOUGH FOR HIM LOL
AND OF COURSE ALL THE BEST FOR YOUR MOTHER AND YOUR FAMILY
COME ON YOU RIP ROARING REDS

I went through something similar a few years back so can sympathise. it may not seem so at the time but it is really important to carry on with the other things in life as much as poss. esp if there are youngsters involved. Good luck mate and lets hope the lads put on a show for your mum and Spudmasher's dad tonight.

hardly the same, though i'd say watching Coronation Street is the same as being tortured!RocastleRock wrote:Spare a thought for my mom too.. Left at home to watch coronation st while me and my dad go cheer on the boys..
And thinking of everyone who is going through the horrible emotional trauma of a sick loved one at the moment x x x x
