Last time Arsenal won on away goals?

Post by Kanubayor 25 »

On the way home from last night’s game, I was saying I was pretty happy with a 0-0 as AC hadn’t got an away goal and in almost 20 years of supporting Arsenal I've seen us get screwed by away goals countless times, but can NEVER remember winning on them! So with the prospect of a score draw doing the trick in Milan in 2 weeks time, I'm really keen to find out when the last time was that we actually won on away goals?! In any tournament?!

In 2000/2001 Champions League we got knocked out by Valencia on away goals  Wigan knocked us out on away goals in 2005/2006 League Cup semi finals as well  Couldn't find the latest Arsenal away-goal rule wins yet

Yeah, I remember both of those clearly, especially the John Carew goal for Valencia which was heartbreak. I just honestly can't remember us ever winning, so hoping someone can correct me!

No one gave us chance at the Bernabeau but look what happened there!!!
AC showed their age last night, with a high tempo to our game we will score.

I reckon this is going to be the game of the tournament, (Milan away).

Although 0-0 is not the worst result possible for a home leg tie in the
CL, its certainly not the best. Especially against Milan away.

This tie is one of those that is IMPOSSIBLE to predict. Could be 1-0 to us,
could be 4-1 against us.

Forget Milans current league form, If there is a club that knows how to
play in European competitions, its AC Milan.

I for one can't wait. This is it, If we win in Milan, we WILL win the
Champs League!!!

I'm just not very confident thats all...

I'm hugely confident we'll do it in Milan, 2-1 to us or 1-1 I reckon. Just wondering from a trivia standpoint when the last time was that we won away goals, it's been bugging me for ages cos I honestly can't remember!

Christ, that's 5 years before I was born! Still, I feel like a better fan for not having forgotten an occasion they did see us through! And here's to overturning 30 years of history in 10 days time (on the plus side, even with our shit history with away goals, we can't possibly lose on them this round!)

It wasn't in my life time.

I'll never forget Vicente's shitty cross to Carew which put us out. I cried for days that week! 8)
