Letter to the BBC 5Live re: Eduardo incident (26/2)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Letter to the BBC 5Live re: Eduardo incident (26/2)

usual thread starter… Do you believe the BBC treated this incident differently than if an English player has been the victim and a foreign one the perpetrator?

I don't think there is any doubt that foreign players are treated differently. The points made in the letter are indeed all fair and accurate, the only shame being that it will be sent to the deleted items folder immediately that it is read. The BBC are not interested in the views of supporters and are even less interested when those views do not match their own. They always have been and always will be the propaganda department of the authorities because without their support the BBC would cease to exist.
Free speech in this country and a right to air your views publicly are a myth.

When Eboue was sent off against Man U, the first thing that was mentioned was that he was the 70-somethingth player to be sent off since AW joined Arsenal.

Despite having a fairly impeccable record in the last few years, they will never let this type of thing drop.

It is almost every teams tactic against us to "get it up them", and we are considered whingers when we complain about these in your face tactics. Look at how newcastle battled against under fat Sam, and then wilted against Man U under Keegan.

When a team actually plays football against us we invariably win.

Regarding the foreigners, when was the last time Liverpool or Chelsea signed an English player. In both those teams that particular gene pool is fast diminishing. I think Gerrard was the only English player in the Liverpool starting line up at the weekend, but not a mention of this.

If Eduardo had done that to Beckham he would now be in hiding somewhere in Croatia!

The BBC are biased against us sure, but I was also incensed last week - when watching the Scousers v Inter game on ITV, when Vieira made a late ish tackle and the commentator's remark was "you can take the man out of north London but..." (you all know the rest). I thought bloody cheeky bastards as if no one else and certainly not their precious Mancs and Scousers ever commit any fouls. Grrr. rant over. Did anyone else notice this by the way?

YEP, I ALSO NOTICED THAT AND IT MADE ME FUME AS WELL. SOMETIMES THEY HAVE PRE-SCRIPTED LINES AND OTHERTIMES THEY DO IT OFF THE TOP OFF THEIR HEADS. HOWEVER, WHAT IS CERTAIN IS THAT THERE IS A PREVAILING ANTI ARSENAL ATTITUDE WITHIN THE MEDIA.

WHAT I CAN'T FIGURE OUT IS WHY? IN THE OLD DAYS THEY SLAGGED US OFF FOR BEING A BIG CLUB BUT NOT WINNING ANYTHING; THEN WHEN WE DID PICK UP SILVERWARE IT WAS FOR NOT PLAYING WITH STYLE; THEN WE COMBINED THE TWO UNDER WENGER THEY CLAIMED ARSENAL HAD DISCIPLINARY PROBLEMS; WE GET THAT UNDER CONTROL WHILST RETAINING OUR STYLE AND IT'S THE 'THEY DON'T LIKE IT UP THEM, SO GIVE THEM A KICK' THEME THAT PREVAILS. NOW, BECAUSE ARSENAL DECIDE TO STICK UP FOR THEMSELVES IT'S RETURNED TO US BEING LABELLED PETULANT, WHINGERS AND BAD LOSERS!!

IGNORE THE PRE AND POST MATCH RAMBLINGS; WHEN THE GAME STARTS TURN THE COMMENTRY DOWN AND JUST WATCH THE PICTURES, AND AFTER THE MATCH AVOID ANY OF THE FAN PHONE-INS EXCEPT THE ONE'S ON ARSENAL TV. THAT'S THE ADVICE I WOULD GIVE TO EVERYONE.

I never really used to buy into this everyone is against us feeling that a lot of gooners seemed to have but after watching MOTD and listening to that wanker Alan Green on 606 on Sunday I just thought fuck em, you'd get the impression that it was Wenger that had broken Taylors leg. I think its a waste of time writing to 5 live the simple soloution is to turn the fuckers off which I have done. (it was only worth listening to when Spurs fans rang in moaning over the years) I should have done it when they keep using the woman hitting waste of space Collymore and the man who did his best to ruin England Graham Taylor. Talk Sport is no better but I've only listened to that a few times I tried again when Wrighty was on the show but that bloke he's on with is such a wanker I couldn't bear it.

Chant for the Villa game

Alan Hanson is a wanker is a wanker etc etc Same for Green as well. I tell you what I miss is Capitol Golds football coverage that was really good. Espcially the forums they set up etc. And Jonathan Pearce was excellent you can't beat "eor eor eor scores when they need it" talking about Tony Adams and taking piss out of the Donkey chant and on the 5-1 against Germany just stopping for a minuete and saying I really wish my dad was here to see this brilliant and he aint the same on MOTD

The media and our red cards

Post by RADFORD NO 9 »

This whole situation is sickening. As always Arsenal are somehow being made into the villains of this whole affair.

They go on and on about all the red cards since M.Wenger has been manager, but I don't remember an Arsenal player putting anyones career in jeapody.

I actually couldn't care less how the media potray us. I know it can get irritating with anti-Arsenal bias that we have endured for years - but at the end of the day, do we really care?

All I'm bothered about is that come the 11th May we become Premier League champions - no better way of answering the critics.

I feel truly sorry for that Steve Wright chappie. Imagine how the poor guy must have felt when the judge gave that life imprisonment verdict? Gutted I guess. He probably never meant any harm to those five young women. Somehow they just died...

Poor Martin Taylor, he must be feeling worse than that nasty Eduardo. Martin is a good guy who would never hurt anyone and now Eduardo's diving has made him look bad.

Lets ban all foreigners they are the reason that we didn't qualify for Euro 08 and Eduardo scored against us and set up another goal so this serves him right. Wenger is a nasty, evil man who wants "our Martin" out of the game that he loves, for no reason. Wenger is a disgrace, silly and childish. His words have left poor Martin distraught.

Martin was only smiling in that photo as he was happy that he got the ball with a perfectly timed tackle. I don't know how Eduardo got injured, I think he must have slipped or dived. Maybe he's just frail. These foreigners are a bit weak you know.

BBC love Liverpool and Man Utd..they promote some weird myth about the being "The Nation's Clubs" just as how the BBC is the "Nation's Channel"...and ITV do it too.

They are biased against us. The begrudge us our success.

Think it is cos they see us as too successful for a club from London. I think it is anti London bias.

Actually got some support yesterday from an unlikely source - Martin Samuel in the Times

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/ ... 449003.ece

Quote from article:

Do we want a noncontact sport? Every fan in the country cheers the tackle when their player wins the ball and in doing so clatters his opponent. This is a physical game, where accidents happen. Football, or at least the Premier League, would not be the game we enjoy without the contact. Letting the game flow is an English thing and maybe we have to think this could be one of the reasons that the English Premier League is the most watched league in the world. – HP

MS: And that makes Eduardo, what, collateral damage, so the rest of the planet can get off on the breakneck insanity of the English league? No one said anything about making football noncontact, but when there is an increase in contact that is illegal and dangerous, it is time to take stock. Those who do not like football played as a game of skill can go back to cockfighting or bear-baiting or whatever intellectual pursuit amused them before English football started
