usual thread starter… Taylor went for a ball he thought he could win with his studs showing by way of getting the message to his opponent early that he would be in for a physical battle. And that is why Taylor is guilty as sin and should be banned for 12 months minimum. He took a chance and did not get away with it.
His studs were showing and way off the ground as a result of the way he went into the challenge. He lunged in. With intent to make a physical challenge that would let his opponent know he was ‘there’
When studs are showing above ground level (and they can still do plenty of damage even sliding along the floor), an automatic red should follow regardless of the consequences. Raising your boot to block a cross is one thing, raising it and heading for your opponent is entirely another. Ban ‘Tiny’ Taylor for a decent interval to send a clear message to footballers everywhere.
Oh and as Kevin Keegan might say, I would absolutely love it if Birmingham were relegated this season. Just love it.
Oh and for those of you visiting early, I posted the wrong link in the third from last para. Webmaster will correct it, but until then – it should be…
