One that particually made my blood boil

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Personally i think this article sum's up everything wrong with the fall out from saturday. I really couldnt stomach to read the whole article as i'm at work and it was really really makeing me angry.

Below are the email address for the sports desk and the editor. i will be emailing both of these. I know that the same could be said for 100 other news sites around the uk but this one really did make my blood boil. I want to get over this incident a focus on the rest of the season but when i read articles like this well,

I've written a long e-mail to the editor reminding him of his newspapers responsibility to report facts in a fair and unbiased way. I've requested a retraction of Murphy's comments regarding the boss and reminded him of all he has done for that club with loan players and developing talent. I fully expect it to be filed in the deleted items folder' but if I do get a response then I'll post it here.

Bloody hell, Response was almost instant.

Here's what I wrote:-

Dear Sir,

I cannot believe what I have just read. How dare your so called reporter criticise Arsene Wenger for his comments immediately following the game on Saturday. I am a lifelong Arsenal supporter and I travel to see my team whenever the opportunity arises, which is regularly.
Your reporter makes reference in his article to the City fans who should be applauded for their standing ovation when Eduardo left the pitch. How convenient that he didn't hear the chants of 'Let him Die' that rang out just moments earlier! To think he has the nerve to comment on Wengers apparent selective vision. Maybe he should address his selective hearing!
For what it is worth I don't think that Martin Taylor intended to cause the damage he did. Having heard Alex McLeish's comments of 'getting about them' that he made in public I can imagine what he said in the privacy of his dressing room. Something along the lines of 'get stuck into them' was probably near to the truth. As a result I firmly believe that Taylor intended to let Eduardo know he was there by walloping him early on. Unfortunately for him he proved to do too good a job.
As regards the sympathy for the clearly distraught Taylor, I think too much emphasis has been put on his mis-fortune and not enough on Eduardo's. How is it that following a very bad tackle by a Birmingham player, the villians of the peace are Arsene Wenger and Eduardo himself. There are sections of the media that are actually blaming Eduardo for this claiming that if you nip the ball away late then you have to expect it!
It ultimately shows that this country is full of xenophobics when it comes down to the brass tacks. Had the roles been reversed the chorus of 'Dirty Johnny Foreigner' would have been followed with appeals for life bans and deportation.
Pat Murphy has managed to take this incident and lay the blame and disgrace firmly in the court of Arsene Wenger, Arsenal and almost anybody that dares to criticise the poor English player. Never before have I read such absolute garbage. He should be downright ashamed of himself and issue a retraction. Our manager, that has given so much to the game in this country (not to mention the players loaned to and developed for Birmingham City) does not deserve this kind of poorly judged personal assault from a hack like Pat Murphy. At least our manager had the good grace to admit he was wrong with his comments that were delivered in the heat of the moment. Will Pat Murphy have the same grace? I doubt it!

I trust you shall send this email direct to your 'deleted items' folder so that you do not have to address the issue.

And here's his response:-

On the contrary, I'd like to run it as a letter in the paper, if that's OK with you.
Regards,
Marc

I'm gobsmacked

Every once in a while something happens that calls into question the attitudes and views of the footballing community of this country. Every c**t who ever kicked a ball suddenly feels it necessary to add their two pence worth and put the world by explaining to us less enlightened folk what actually happened and who's to blame. The fact of the matter is that the 'challenge' was reckless. People have been talking about malice and forethought and intention and how Taylor had none of these things before he went in. We're talking about a split second decision in which it can be safely said that Taylor thought very little about the outcome of his excessivley strong and wild lunge. What can be said with cetainty is that deep down the knew that a result of his attempt to win the ball would probably be some level of harm to Eduardo. This not being an exact science, the outcome could have been anything from a bruised shin to a broken leg and ultimately Taylor was not overly concerned about avoiding the higher end of the harm spectrum. He can't even claim to have bene following the maxim of 'taking the ball and a bit of the man' as the pictures clearly show the ball was miles away from his upturned foot. He's a grown man and should be culpable for his reckless and thoughtless action in that moment. And there should be no sympathy for him other than the acnkowledgement that he's not very clever if he didn't realise he might seriously hurt Eduardo doing this. And you know McLeish told his players to hit us 'hard', early on. Some responsbility must lie with him too.

Sorry, this has been a bit long!

just a side note but it pisses me of that fergie is not referred to as foreign. He's scottish for christ sake, not english so that makes him a foreigner in our country. Besides i can understand wenger a whole lot better that fergerson. But that's beside the point.
