club or country
united fans are pretty well known for their don't give a fcuk attitude towards england, probably more so the fa, if it mean't england winning the world cup/euro cup would you sacrifice arsenal winning say the league or the champs league for it.

There's a lot to be said for both. To be fair clubs pay these players wages and therefore its their livelihood, but any player should be proud of representing their country.
The only time I ever have a problem with club v country is when there's ridiculous friendlies in the middle of important parts of the season, and your best players head off to play the likes of Andorra, who are just going to be cannon fodder anyway.

i'm not asking from the players/clubs point of view, its your own personal choice i'm interested in, giving up seeing your team that you pay out for week in week out, or however often you are able to go, not win anything for the sake of the country to win a competition.
i don't mind putting my neck on the line and be criticised for the fact that i'd rather see utd win all day long, thats just the way i feel i'm afraid, yes i'll watch an england game but i feel no passion whilst i'm watching. thats just me

UP TO A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I MIGHT HAVE SAID YES - ONLY BECAUSE THE WHOLE OF THE GAME IN ENGLAND WOULD HAVE GOT A BOOST FROM IT.
HOWEVER, SINCE THE MEDIA AND OTHER CLUBS FANS HAVE ADOPTED THE 'BLAME ARSENAL FOR ALL OF ENGLAND'S ILLS' ATTITUDE, I WOULDN'T EVEN TRADE THE CARLING CUP FOR AN ENGLAND WORLD CUP WIN!!

I know I was trying to look at it objectively. I don't mind our players heading off for internationals, but I meant I resent the fact that we lose players to injuries in stupid friendlies, van Persie is a perfect example. If its a qualifying game for a big tournament I have absolutely no problem with it, and in fact I think they should play.redarmy7 wrote:i'm not asking from the players/clubs point of view, its your own personal choice i'm interested in, giving up seeing your team that you pay out for week in week out, or however often you are able to go, not win anything for the sake of the country to win a competition.

I have lived in America for a few years, and big name players more or less turn their backs on their national teams, and I think thats just wrong.
