Come Home

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Come Home

Post by chriscatchpole »

From the BBC website's gossip column:-

Thierry Henry has put Premier League clubs on alert by throwing a tantrum after being substituted by Barcelona in their 2-1 defeat to Villarreal. His old Arsenal pal Robert Pires, who played in the side which beat Barca, said: "If I were to say that Henry was happy, I would be called a liar." (The Sun)

Thierry, come home. I am sure I speak for the majority of Arsenal fans if I say 'We love you and would welcome you back with open arms.'

Er, sorry, but no! Henry was brilliant for us, but he went at a good time. Good for him, and good for us. There is no way that Wenger would take him back!

Totally agree, MK Gould.

Henry is reaping what he sowed and although I didn't want him to leave initially, we have moved on now without him.

Henry left in large part because he knew his body could not take the speed and physicality of Premier League any more, at least not so he could play to the great standard he gave us until 2006.

He is no longer the player he was at his peak in 2004.

He was our best ever player as far as I am concerned, but if he returned it would disrupt the dressing room.

He should not return as a player, though maybe one day as a PR ambassador for the club should he not choose to go into coaching or management.

I reckon he might be a pundit after he retires.

You have hit the nail right on the head Quartzgooner.I would like to see him back as an ambassador for the club like Sir Bobby Charlton and Brian Robson for Manchester United.

Yes, we do love him but remember he was not patient enough  I wouldn't take him back. We’ve moved on, so should he  I'd love him to be our manager in the future though, I think he is intelligent and stylish enough.

No thanks, in a funny way im glad he hasnt done well. He is no cashley but thought his attitude in the last year maybe 2 changed and got too big in his own mind. I reckon he might join Newcastle if they stay up as you can bet keegan will be throwing the owners money about in the summer but no way do i want him back and i dont think Wenger would ever have him back.

TH14 was a god, true world class and the greatest player in our history. But he cant and wont come back to Arsenal. I cant even see him playing for another English club. I could envisage him retiring early and coming back to England then. Why dont Barca play him as a striker? He has scored 13 goals this season not being a regular and playing from wide left, thats pretty impressive.

Never go back a second time. Henry is hampered by injury and though helped the players off the pitch this season, he would only risk overshadowing others and seeing his second Arsenal career harm him reputation after a brilliant time

Love you Henry, you were a great player and by many accounts a good man, I do seriously hope you can make it at Barca still but no, don't want you back as a player

8 pints dropped

i doubt we'd have blown the last 8 points with him in the side, and I seriously doubt we'd have been 8 points worse off if he had been playing for us all season....

Magnificent player but no point in trying to relive the past. He's past his peak and in a Primera Liga that isn't as strong as it was 3/4 years ago.

And where the hell did "Titi" come from? That has to be one of the poofiest nicknames ever.

Titi was his nickname amongst the players.

It's a Caribbean nickname.
