Bring Back Lehmann

Post by Bring Back Pires »

There's no arguing that Almunia's error resulted in Chelsea's winning goal. He also fucked up against Barcelona, and has conceded many dubious goals over the course of the season. This is the final straw.

Lehmann made two mistakes this season. One of the games we won, the other we drew. Not so bad. Bring back the legend, even though it's too late.

Ok you need to stop making stupid threads, no offense man, but Almunia may have had a weak hand for the second, but he kept us in the game.

Lehmann is not the answer. Not convinced about Almunia yet...I thought Fabianski was going to be the best goalkeeper ever????

Lehmann ain't the answer. But neither is Almunia.

Where's Poom when you need him!

We need a better keeper. Wenger needs to spend big in the summer.

Goalkeepers are judged on their mistakes (or lack of) rather than the positive things they do. If Lehmann was thrown out for making one mistake over 90 minutes, then Almunia should be under fire likewise. What's the point in making some excellent saves if you're then going to fuck it up and concede a goal you shouldn't?

I thought Almunia made some vital saves and the defence didnt protect him at all

Almunia made 2 or 3 important stops in the first half and a couple of absolute crackers in the second, namely the one that would have given Drogba a hattrick. Our defense didn't help him out and you want to single him out because of a weak hand? at least he did get a hand on it.

Yes, he made some good saves. But ultimately, his poor goalkeeping cost us the match - and potentially the title. This kind of liability doesn't belong in goal. Lehmann made two mistakes, which weren't particularly costly. Almunia's were moreso, and he should be dropped because of it.

manuel made a few great saves today and he shouldnt be blamed for it,it is the centre backs fault and wengers fault for peristing with a pair that clearly does not work

did you watch the same game?

he well and truely kept us in it. he was not at fault for either goal,

1st was off and gallas should not have let him through anyway
and the 2nd was piss poor defending by toure

Maybe we have different standards, but if I was paying somebody 50K+ per week to be a professional goalkeeeper, then I'd fully expect the second goal to be saved.
