Clichy’s body language screams ‘Forget the Title!’ (3/4)

usual thread starter… have you given up on the league yet? Are the players physically capable of competing on two fronts? I thought the whole idea of effectively sacrificing the two domestic cups was so that we would have enough in the tank for the two prizes that mean the most to Le Boss. Should we rest players on Saturday as Liverpool surely will. Traore at left back anyone?

NO, WENGER SHOULDN'T REST PLAYERS THIS SATURDAY IN MY OPINION. HOW WOULD WE FEEL IF HE DID THAT AND THEN MAN UNITED DROPPED POINTS AT BORO? MUCH AS SOME THINK WE ARE OUT OF THE TITLE RACE ALREADY, I FEEL ANYTHING IS STILL POSSIBLE - WHICH IT WON'T BE IF WE DON'T WIN - AND IT WOULD BE FOOLISH TO CONCENTRATE JUST ON THE C.L. RETURN.
ALSO, SURELY IT WOULD BE BETTER GOING INTO THE ANFIELD MATCH WITH A CONFIDENCE BOOSTING VICTORY A FEW DAYS BEFOREHAND , THAN TO PLAY A WEAK SIDE, DROP POINTS AND FAIL TO LIFT THEMSELVES FOR TUESDAY?

Clichy body language
Talking of body language what is Hleb playing at lately ? Earlier. in the season i was thinking what a useful player, the way he turns people the wrong way etc etc . But now he looks totally pissed off ,arms flung in the air Ronaldo style and referees must be getting fed up with him and Ronaldo.Torres Drogba and quite a few more, mainly foreigners ,who go down at every opportunity. If Hleb had tried to stay on his feet last night then maybe the referee might have given it ,,but they must be fed up with watching the game on tv the next day only to find that they have been conned yet again. You cannot blame them for ignoring these players appeals for penalties. .Thay are only human, well most of them anyway, but they must remember little things like that the next time they need to give a big decision. I have no reason to change my mind that our defence is crap. As much as people think Gallas is a good captain,at the moment he is not a good player regular enough to warrant the armband. Surely even people in outer Mongolia can see that we need a big strong intelligent player at the back,we need someone like a Vieira or an Adams with that never say die attitude. Would you like any of our defenders to defend your life ? It is so hard to criticise Le Boss but we need to strengthen, you do not win Premier league titles and Champions League finals by spending peanuts. I cannot see us defending well enough at Anfield to keep them out ,i would love to see it but it looks like another potless season. Get me to the beach ! [/b]

if he stayed on his feet he would of given it?..you sure pal....that was a stonewall penalty, and i don't blame him for moaning at refs with the punishment he gets, it should be him out injured rather than rosicky with the lumps he gets taken out of him, i think hleb is a terrific footballer, his close control in my opinion is better than ronaldo's, if only he could shoot more, dont have too much of a short memory cos two of the goals against bolton came from hleb, think people are just looking for scapegoats.....but give me what we have going for over the next few days over than competing for nothing like last season....think its about time everyone got behind em cos if were giving up on em them why should they bother
I agree with the previous correspondent . It would be crazy to play an under strength side on Saturday , draw or lose the game , then watch United slip up at Boro. We would be kicking ourselves. It could happen as well , you have to keep believing. The league must still be our priority , above the European cup which after all is a cup competition. If we beat Liverpool on Saturday and win at OT next week then to use a famous quote ' it's up for grabs now !

Totally agree, we must play full strength in Saturdays game, IMHO the Premiership is always the priority and as stated I feel its still up for grabs, anything could happen in the games coming up with the clubs involved, but another slip up from us and its curtains.woodside wrote:I agree with the previous correspondent . we should have gone with the same team in the Carling cup semis, the FA cup - we were unstoppable until this resting bollocks started. Winning games improves confidence and creates a winning at all costs mentality - LOOK WHATS HAPPENED SINCE THE FA CUP GAME !!
Wenger knows....... yeah right you are.... we'll be saying this for another season of 'transition' whilst paying one of the highest prices in the world.
Boy those directors must be flipping around that board room like kippers not knowing where to invest OUR money next.

Yeah, but to be honest, strongest team or not - they were half hearted performances that saw us knocked out of the domestic cups.Magic Hat wrote:Arsene picked the strongest fully fit team that day
- the personnel were ok..just didn't get out of first gear..especially at Old Trafford. That was just lame

In any case.. whats done is done. We must look to the future now!
I really think we have to play our strongest team tomorrow. As people have said...we have to keep the pressure on ManU...because you just never know!
I know that would increase the risk of fatigue at Anfield..but, at the same time, a positive result against Liverpool tomorrow will surely give them a much needed boost.
I guess time will tell
