Can Arsenal take 2nd Place?

Post by tenementfunster5 »

Cesc seems to think so and I agree, it is up for grabs. Chel$ki are 11 points clear but we have a game in hand. 8 points to make up with Chel$ki competing on numerous fronts. It must be possible.

All depends how long John Terry is out for, here's hoping that we need a point or something to go above them and we do it May 5th!!!

Sorry, but we've left it too late. We can overtake Liverpool to claim 3rd, but Chelski? No - not this season.

No. We will not go the rest of the season without dropping points. Chelsea may still drop a few, but the gap is too big for us to catch up now. Let's just go all guns now for 3rd.

Third should be an easy shout for us. Chelsea will not drop enough points for us to catch them, especially with our severe lack of finishing.

Can't see it happening but glad the players have that attitude. Lets hope the cup exits don't have too much of a knock-on effect in the League.

I definately think we can!

If we win our game in hand and both us and Manure beat them then its down to 2 points! All they have to do is draw and we are in there espeially as they will be distracted by all the other competitions.

Even if we don't these last few weeks are going to be fantastic prep for next season, we can give the beast and alliadiere a long run of games so we can see once and for all if they are good enough for Arsenal, I think we should also try Almunia out in the league for a few weeks to see if he can make the grade week in week out. Henry can be rested from now until July as far as i'm concerned, top 4 is pretty secure so there is no point whatsoever in risking him, give him the massive break he needs to clear his head and let his body recover. Would be nice if he offered to take a wage drop for the break in exchange for being given the rest of the season off?

Give the likes of Traore and Hoyte some games, perhaps experiment with gilberto as centre back, try the denilson fabregas combination a few more times??

As long as we secure 4th, in my opinion there is no difference between 3rd and 4th as long as you are constructive in taking 4th. Second would be great for confidence and the automatic qualification but i think its a big ask and would need a lot of hard work and i think i'd prefer our pre-season for 2007/2008 to start now

No not with a front two of Aliadiere and the Beast for the next few games and also no Toure as well.

I don't think we have that much of a chance but I feel that 3rd is a definite. I know the last few weeks have been tough but at least we can concentrate on just the premiership now...

I know we've played a lot of cup games lately, but I was suprised to see that we're top of the current form table - and that was before beating Villa. And how great to hear that we'd kept a clean sheet, scored a scrappy goal and fairly comfortably held out for an away win - with something like 7 first teamers out through injury and suspension. Still don't think 2nd is possible, but 3rd would be some achievement, and I can't wait for next season to begin!!!
