Time to invest

Time to invest

Post by row 29 »

First of all congratulations to some of our team for giving everything. it was a strange feeling of proudness and utter resentment for others as we applauded them off. Was it a penalty wasn't it. we can argue these cases till we are all blue in the face but the reality is that we had the semi final in our hands twice and once again come up way too short when defending. The last six weeks is like watching a reply of your worst nightmare over and over again and never waking up from it. What do the defenders do in training sessions??? Its not practicing corners or set pieces or learning to deal with hopeless balls over the top. From Middlesborough to Liverpool the way to score against Arsenal is hit it long and let the players pick up the second phase ball - Its not just down to the back four, surely if your playing against Crouch let him win the fucking thing as you have no chance but as a team you have to be switched on to pick up the second ball and contest that.
I was reading the stats about how well Arsenal have done in the balance sheet over the past four years compared to the other 'Big Four'. well on behalf of all the season ticket holders and members congratulations to the Board and to Arsene for acheiving this 'success'
£24 million gives you Torres -29 goals in his first season, foreign and young. Apart from the price tag surely this was tempting for our boss, but hey ho we get a young player from the French league who blows more hot and cold than my old unserviced boiler - and he has the same attitude as our beloved TT but only after his first full season- wait until next year the sulks will be legondary as will be the three misses to one goal.
The truth is Football has moved up a gear and in particular our league, George Graham had this problem adapting after a period of high success and it appears that Arsene has the same. The difference is that at the time of GG we were at Highbury and I have to hold me ol hands up and acknowledge the same for Wengers successfull reign, but now we are at Ashburton so that in the words of the board and of Le Boss "we will be able to compete with the biggest clubs in the world"
we the fans find ourselves paying more money than the chavski of this world while waiting with great anticipation for another 'wonderkid' that arrives from Spain after the usual three year exile. Arsenal lack pace and that has not been said for a long long time, Theo I hear you say but does he or will he ever be given a run of games over Eboue, the appearances over the past six weeks appear to be in favour of my favourite African friend for some God foresaken reason.
Perhaps the club does require further investment from overseas because we desperately need three experienced quality players that will re-balance our team with youth and experience. Its clear that the centre backs require some stiff opposition to at least give them food for thought after they let another long ball sail over their heads or they get outmuscled by a seven foot stick insect.
Please please please Arsene wake up to reality and buy some experience, I am not trophy hunting or pointing to the last time we have raised silverware aloft but I would like to stop having this spectacular implossion every season then calling it a transitional year.

why can't we get three experienced players with the £70 million we have without calling in help from oversea's?

Disgraceful

Post by jay.asnl4life »

This is the second year in which 3 premier league teams are in the semi finals of the champions league.....arsenal aren't one of them once again......disgraceful///

Anyway....we really need to invest in the summer otherwise next year will be fruitless too......we need to strengthen our defence.....gallas and toure aren't championship material...don't get me wrong here...I am not saying they are incompetent..I'm saying that their partnership is not working.....personally I prefer Toure to stay and I would like it if we got a tall old fashioned Centre Back who can head the ball.....midfield needs reinforcement....specially in the wider areas.....But my opinion doesn't matter......Wenger knows better.....he is the professor remember??!.....he's sure, we do not need to buy....we can improve and we'll win another trophy after 76 years
