Plastic Fans and Tickets (15/4)

usual thread starter… Let’s face it, there is no reason Monday 28th April should not be a goalfest – so if you have a ticket, you won’t regret going.

Fans who only want to go if we have a chance of winning something arent fans, a fan supports the team for 90 minutes (plus stoppage time) wherever, whenever and whatever the circumstances.
Get behind the team lads - The events at the end of the game on sunday when 1000 or so gooners refused to leave the stadium to sing and show their support for the players and club until we were thrown out by the police and stewards were moments you will remember in years to come.
I can assure you that everyone of those including myself will be at Pride Park with their heart on their sleves supporting the team until the end!

On a slightly different tack i have 'freinds' that have returned their tickets for the Everton game to their various Supporters Clubs and sources as they , and i quote , 'cannot see the the point in attending as we ain't gonna win the lague now' , 'have had it for this season , i shall return in August' and lastly 'i am losing interest'. Rest assured i have had words with these so called 'supporters' and a few home truths have been told. Up the Arse .....our time shall come again.

I'm a bit im between the two. A) i cant afford to go to hardly any of the games (thats what saving for a house would do). B) But i would of stretched myself to try for a ticket if we had still been in the hunt.
I agree with the point the bloke is saying though. If your able to go and choose not to just beacuse were not in the hunt, then shame on you.

In most ways, a fair point.
But as the devil's advocate...
One of the things that makes football so exciting (as with all sports) is the sense of occasion. Surely it stands to reason that Man Utd will attract a bigger interest than Derby. Especially when you take any real meaning out of the game.
And, let's be clear about one thing. The players DO NOT turn up out of blind loyalty. Remember that when you're traipsing through the wastelands of our beloved North of England, risking life and limb with the local cave dwellers, maybe spending somewehere close to 10% of your total income for the month and not sure if half the team will even try...
The players will be bussed/aircrafted/helicoptered there and back, will receive champagne treatment and in some cases get paid three times your yearly salary for doing so.
Yes, support the team, yes, continue to support them when things are quite as good as they were (or should be), yes, a bit of loyalty doesn't hurt.
But don't be so naive as to think the players shouldn't have to try if you don't - it's their f*****g job for christ's sake!

Very good article.
One thing to remember though is what I would term "Life in London".
It's bonkers...and so many good fans I know who try to go to numerous games, sometimes cannot make games becaus eof
Affordability (when you are raising two kids the money is not always there for every game)
Work (who works a 9 - 5 anymore? No one I know)
Family Commitments (Try as we might, there's always Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, Retirement Parties etc that crop up at same time as a game)
I can undertand peopel not applying to Derby away in the first place, as it is on tv and it is not a glamour tie and there is a certain logic to that.
What I do find bad though is people with tickets dropping out on account of Derby away not being a worthwhile fixture anymore. A game is a game, and if Arsenal are playing it is always worthwhile.

I was hesitant about buying ticket in first instance cos possibility of monday night at derby for meaningless game at £40.00 did not appeal.
Was still not sure about going until end of muppets match but now definitely going. I`m not sure in 40 odd years Ihave witnessed such singing at the end of a game in such circumstances. I did not stay the full 20 min but hang around for a while and I thought the singing was inspirational- the muppets leaving looked totally bewidered by what what was going on.
Those fans who stayed on deserve the support of the likes of me - so i`m definitely going and now to sunderland which i had resolved not to if end of season meaningless game.
and despite the disappointment I think team deserve the support. They may have messed up and some like ade may have been plain useless and irritating in recent months but you can`t fault the effort - I really thought they would go into Sunday`s game feeling sorry for themselves but instead played really well.
The funny thing is, being selfish I`m not sure I actually want to win all remaining games if that means coming second.
Champions League is getting all too predictable and the format is such its more and more difficult to find new venues to go to - but in prelim round you can end up anywhere - for family reasons I dream of arsenal playing in Poland for first time ever and it aint going to happen except in prelim round - so for me if you ain`t going to win league coming third is better than second.
Keep the faith.

Lets be brutally honest here - most of the people were buying tickets for the credits thinking we would get to a cup final. Its disgusting that as someone who went to most of the away games this season (including CL) i couldnt get a ticket for Anfield (luckily met a mate there who had a spare).
Now suddenly theres shit loads and really do mean shit loads of spares for Derby away floating all over Arsenal websites!

Look at the 'For sale & wanted' area of the forum - I've seen a good few pop up in the last few days.drthorne1 wrote:HI..
