usual thread starter... interesting analysis but no real conclusion. fair play to the writer for not wearing rose tinted specs where arsenal are concerned though - need shades today as the sun's out anyway 8)

Interesting yes. Read another article today about what became of Arsenal's double youth cup winning team of not so many years ago. So no guarantee that the promise shown by the youngsters will improve with time (you only have to look at Rooney for proof of that!). What the article really highlighted for me though was the problems that all our rivals have. I don't think Man Utd have hit their peak. I think they are well past it, and have got lucky in the form of Ronaldo (who must be tempted by Madrid...), and unexpectedly good END OF CAREER performances from Scholes, Giggs and Larssen. Seems funny saying this about a team who may be on the verge of the treble, but I think they'll be seriously off the pace next season!! Chelsea? All the experts say that Mourinho is on his way. I hate the guy, but he is certainly a winner. Look how many Managers have wasted a blank cheque books in years gone by. This may be the start of the end for the blues! Liverpool? I think they've been the over achievers these last few years and I'd much rather be in our position than theirs. Benitez hasn't had great success with his buys in the past so even if the yanks come good then no guarantees he'll spend it wisely. So, I'm confident that we will show a vast improvement next season but, as importantly, I'm equally confident that our main rivals have some bad times ahead!!
