For Flamini, think Brian Marwood (8/5)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

For Flamini, think Brian Marwood (8/5)

usual thread starter… I actually think flamini’s run in the team has improved him as a player and he will actually suit Italian football. I have to confess I can’t get the passion up to wish former players do badly when they leave. But then again, I don’t invest personal emotion in them as individuals when they play for arsenal, just hope they perform well and give their all when they are wearing the shirt.

Do you think the flanimal will succeed in italy?

Flamini in ITALY!

Flam suits the pace of Italian football and it would probably allow him to dominate a bit more. He is a simple passer and will not be found out like he would in a top champions league game.

Hleb looks to be on his way as well and he will have more time on the ball and they may both lengthen their careers by slowing down from premiership pace.

Correct - post March Flamini was not playing at the same level. Think Bolton away as well where he got robbed on the edge of the box for goal #2.

Serie A is a lot tougher to crack than you guys might think. There is time on the ball but it is very technical and very strategic. Just because you have done well in England does not mean you will do well over there...

And I wish him bad luck. He has drawn a good salary over a four year period and perhaps performed well 20% of the time tops. Most of us would get fired if that happened at our jobs...

Who in our team was playing at the same level from march onwards? If we're gna start pointing fingers there are other players whose performance has dipped far greater. Also for Kuyts goal I remember Gerrard running through half our defence and crossing a ball that Big Phil and Manuel watched go straight past them before kuyt scored, so yeah it was all flaminis fault of course, I guess when Hleb leaves it will be his fault as well.

Also when flamini went off in the second leg we got absolutely hammered with the exception of walcotts amazing run. Whats this about the pace of italian football suiting him more, he has bossed games in midfield all season in the high tempo premiership, I understand people are disapointed that flamini is leaving but belittling his achievements this season is petty.

I for one wish him all the best at AC Milan.

Its strange all these comments about Flamini being a one season wonder now he has gone.Yet in all probability he will be voted the Gooner player of the year.If he had stayed would these comments be made.Me thinks not.Flamini ran his heart out for the team and never gave less than 100% every game and along with Gallas he always showed his appreciation to the fans.I blame Arsene and the board for letting it get this far,it should have been sorted at christmas then maybe we could have kept Diarra.instead of losing two good players

Flamini will be a success at Milan if he can form a good understanding with Pirlo about who covers where in midfield.

He will also need to work something out with Pato and Kaka, as those two players tend to swap aroudn a bit.

If they can get neat passes going between them, they will be a success.

Goodbye Flaminal and thanks for the Champions' League run to Paris. However, as a Wenger creation he'll be lost anywhere else. Can't see him succeeding in Milan but wish him well anyway as per ed's philosophy :banghead:
