We Can Definitely Win The League Next Season (11/5)

usual thread starter… submitted before flamini had gone, so I’d say Gooner Ben would revise his shopping list now. Not sure what a utility left back is anyway. Gio van Bronckhorst? Anyhow, encouraging news in that he reckons he’ll tie up a couple of signings before the euros start. Would that be the centre back and the creative midfielder he suggested at the recent shareholders Q&A? maybe the Valencia stopper and Ben Arfa?
Nice attempt to justify Eboue’s existence. But not successful here!
What odds do you think the bookies will give on Arsenal to be champions next season? Maybe you can get them already? What kind of price would you fancy a punt on?

Merida
With respect, Merida won't be an Anderson - and this is not down to a lack of dreadlocks and disgusting gamesmanship.
He looked fairly mediocre recently when I saw him against a Celta Vigo side that oozed crapness.

I wouldn't be suprised if you can get 15-1 right now if not higher although this still does not tempt me to take a bet!
I think we have enough utility player as it is and not enough genuine world class players who are the creme de la creme of that position in world football. Eboue, Toure, Diaby, Hleb and Walcott have all played in different positions throughout the season.
Proven quality please.....we have lost too much time speculating on players!

We were 12/1 at the start of this season just after we lost Henry. at the start of next season after losing hleb and flamini, I reckon we'll be about 14 or 15/1. I would'nt be tempted to back em especially as both united and chelsea will strengthen and the scousers will sign 1 or 2 as well so I reckon our best bet next season would be if we were to win a cup or two (Carling and FA would do me) and finish 3rd again would'nt be a bad season.

I am gonna put on a tenner on us winning the Premiership next season
Just checked the odds, it's a rip-off!
Both Paddy Power and William Hill are offering 7/2

Eddie's injury
Eduardo won't miss more than a couple of months of next season.
He's supposed to return to training again in August so assuming it takes a few months to get back to fitness he should be back before Christmas. We're not talking about him returning for the final 10 games here. He'll probably be around for most of the season.

Yeah even according to Wenger himself Eduardo is expected to have been out for a total of 9 months from when he first got injured to when he's 100% match fit. He got injured in February so that's what December he should be back to 100% and Wenger said he'll be training again from around the start of the season.
I think a lot of people haven't realised that he's back soon, so buying another striker to replace a guy who'll only be out for a couple of months of football is rash at best- especially considering people want us to spend a lot of money. What that happens when Eddie is back to fitness shortly? Too many players competing for positions.
People talk about needing strength in depth, but it's easy to have too much, it's the reason why Diarra left us so quickly. Good players don't want to sit on the bench for 80% of the time. Likewise buying another striker seems pretty negative to me. RvP, Ade, Eddie, Bendtner, Theo, Tommy, Vela are all capable of playing up front, even if a couple of them are not main strikers normally. That's also assuming we can't ever play a 4-5-1 if a couple of players are injured. It's all just a bit baffling why people are so desperate for a striker if you ask me. More wages and make another player or 3 unhappy.
