ARSE SHAVINGS

Post by rolypoly »

thats my son`s version of the name of zenit`s star player in uefa final.

ideal replacement for mr bread when he buggers of to tranquil milan - right age, plenty of skill, lots of energy, already plays for team that, on wednesday`s performance is modelled on the arsenal fast short passing style and unlike the breadman has an eye for goal.

and as my son says, with a name like that, just like arsene, his destiny must be to join us.

other than obvious targets like david villa, i think worth a punt on jimmy bullard-loads of energy, not a bad passer of the ball and bonus of bloody good free kick taker - ideal replacement for flamini?

Fuck me   I agree with Roly about something. Bullard would be a good signing.

I'm gonna go and lay down for a while

If you think that Bullard would be a good signing for Arsenal, then I suggest taking that 'lie down' in a psychiatrists office!!

Then I would make that appointment with the psychiatrist for 2 people then!!

Also, I keep hearing he is a great free-kick taker/scorer but the man has scored 2 free-kick goals and has a career ratio of about 1 goal every 10 games. As for being a replacaement for Cesc when he is tired, I thought people were advocating him as Cesc's partner ala Flamini. Anyways, they are two totally different sorts of players and Bullard is nowhere near as creative as our Spaniard so I don't think he is a logical replacement either.

Come on guys, lets raise our ambitions here!! (Or at the very least pay a visit to spec-savers!!)

ROLY..... I dont think he posesses the qualities to play our style of football, he isnt quick enough and i dont think his passing is up to playing in the champions league or within the top 4 of the premier league. He looks pretty good playing for Wigan or Fulham but lets face it he hasnt been outstanding for either of them, ok his broken leg has limited him with Fulham. He does score occasional goals but really dont think he would cut it for us. Ok he might replace Eboue in most peoples opinion (mine too) but id rather us buy a player of established quality to replace Eboue not an English journeyman

If you don't mind Rolypoly, I'll answer that:

Because we're Arsenal with ambitions of winning trophies domestically and in Europe; not Fulham or Wigan whose only ambition is to survive!!

There has to be better options than Bullard. I haven't seen too much of him but from what i've seen I think we could do better.

I haven't seen or heard anything of Arse Shavings though so can't comment on that.

bread hater

you continue to be irrational

applying your logic its not ok to buy players from struggling english clubs but it is from eg struggling french clubs. where the bloody hell do you think sagna came from and do you think he was a bad buy.

at least others who disagree like ram and flash put forward a sound argument but what could i expect of someone who in answer to the chelski conspiracy claimed final being in moscow or mr a being russian irrelevant.

how does someone who cant think straight get to be a moderator - then again i suppose it does make sense given that yourboss was dozy enough to do the the moronic " catch us if you can" headline.

i`m not suggesting bullard is or will be a world beater but as a poss replacement for flam about whom 12 months ago you doubters would have made same comments about, it is to be considered.

mr bread hater-your silence on arse shavings is deafening -why dont you just admit your ignorance.

Bullard fits my "Grimandi Theory" of buying a couple of experienced players, who whilst not world beaters, would give a genuine effort every game.

They have enough about them to not lose their head on the pitch in situations such as the quarter final at Anfield where we conceded after scoring six mins from time.

They need not cost more than £3 - 5M, but would give us a squad depth to be able to genuinely compete for a title through a long season involving injuries, suspensions and the African Nations Cup.

Not sure we will buy him though , reckon Wenger will stick with what he has got in terms of running midfielders, and in midfield we will see Randall given some playing time too.

Yaya Toure is a different matter. He would bring a physical presence to midfield that we do nto have..though if Wenger uses Song and Djourou in that role, and if Gilberto stays, I am not so sure we will spend on another central midfielder.

We will see.
