Shot shy Gunners
Now this is madness its not we dont have enough shots we just dont finish all credit to Robert Green today he was by far the best player on the pitch.
But one is for sure our forwards are out of form,
Now Wenger needs to try something else out against Newcastle, maybe droping the out of form strikers and giving Rhys Murphy a game. Now if you seen this guy play he aint afraid of having a shot he may be only 17 but surely we need to do something new?
I like the Beast Aliadaire and Adebayor but to me they are all support strikers and aint much without a real striker which Murphy is?
maybe im clutching at straws. But I think If Wenger shows the axe to a few high profile players they may realise there place aint cemented in the team.
Everyone who uses this forum will know im not a poster who slags of any player in a Arsenal shirt. to me when there in the red and white of Arsenal they are a part of my Family.
I really think we need to play Justin Hoyte ahead of Eboue. dont get me wrong Eboue is different class but defensively he wanders out of posistion where as Hoyte is stronger defending.
roll on monday Come on you reds

This was unbelievable. We had something like 30 shots and the Hammers, who maybe had one when it mattered. The rest came late in the game when we were desperately pushing forward so they don't really count.
I did not know whether to laugh or cry cos, you could not pigeonhole it as a bad performance, bad misses, bad play, bad choices, great defending, great goalkeeping, bad decisions, etc that led to our defeat. It was none of the above and all of the above. If that makes any sense.
But certainly if we had taken half our chances, it would have been a cricket score. And of all the reasons mentioned above, hand on heart, we have to admit our finishing was abysmal. When you have a free header in the 6-yard box and don't score, what can you do? Ok here's an attempt at an analysis of the current state of the team.
Apart from Fabregas, no one else really wants to score. I mean, even as I type it, it sounds ridiculous but just look at the way we play. Adebayor, doing a bad Henry impersonation, shows up on the wings too much for my taste. And even if he does set up an opening, who's in the box to take advantage? They all hang around outside the box, trying to play the killer pass. And when it does happen, no one attacks the ball. Just look at the numbers in the box. We just don't throw enough bodies in there to make things happen. Heaven forbid we score a scrappy goal.
And we keep trying to thread it in when it is clear our best chances are all coming from the flanks. And so when a great opportunity presents itself in the form of a free header, what do we do? Make Robert Green look like Gordon Banks. In truth, it was a good save, not a great one because it was at a convenient height.
I hate to blame players but Lehmann has cost us some goals this season with his indecision or poor decisions. Today, and the home game with PSV were examples. Still, if we had taken some of those chances...
Well it was one of those days but again for the second game, the other team showed more hunger and desire - well they are fighting for survival of course but still...by coincidence, I was watching Fever Pitch today...Anything to bring back good memories and I think what struck me was the comment by the students that they didn't like her much at first because she worked them too hard, but in the end they understood because they passed their exams. And they thought she was a bit like George Graham. Well we could do with someone like that now...We need a result badly.

I would have to agree that we do need something to get this team scoring again but is digging into the younger players gonna do much aside from possibly take away the confidence from are already underperforming strikers .
your right about baptista and alliadiere being support strikers but i think with enough work adebayor could be a good goal scorer he was doing well at one point.

was tuned in to sky sports news commentry and im discusted! it was funny at the start of the season when we where all over teams but couldnt finish the job.At the last count it was 26 shots come on lads!! how the hell could 1 of them not make the back of the net!! is V.P. near fit again? think a big toe poker needs bought in the summer
I can't understand why we started the game with only one recognised striker. Love em or hate em, surely Baptista & Aliadiere should have been on from the start?? Lose at Newcastle on Monday and there is every chance we'll drop out of the Champions League places. Home to Bolton next Saturday has all the makings of a must win and we can't afford to make the same mistake again!

It's really hard to understand why we can't score. We generally overplay and overpass and overelaborate, but when we get a diificult opening the keeper saves or the ball hits the post or bar. The easy chances we just miss???? It's driving me nuts...and I too think that 4th spot is looking dodgy with Bolton at AG next week. I thinkthe team have lost belief and I blame what happened in Cardiff. I agreed with Wenger's selection at the time but now think it was a mistake. Hindsight is wonderful.

I think it spoke volumes this weekend that we played the extra midfielder rather than Baptista or Aliadiere. Think Wenger has lost faith in them scoring as have I.
Problem is I don't see any goals from midfield and am hoping for a miracle to stay fourth. I have no problem with trying Murphy or Jay Simpson. Hell even Fleeting or Sanderson from the ladies, just anyone who knows how to put the ball in the net!!

I couldn't quite work out why Ljungberg started ahead of Baptista / Aliadiere on Saturday - as whilst the latter have heardly been prolific Ljungberg hasn't scored a league goal all season and only got one last year.
I would have thought playing Rosicky up top (if you are going to drop Baptista / Aliadiere) would have made more sense but I suppose he too has hardly been prolific.
You could say we were unlucky Saturday, which perhaps we were but after seeing game after game this season where we have dominated and failed to win there comes a time when you have to admit that you make your own luck.
Clearly Baptista is not up to it - he was a last minute make weight in the Reyes deal in my opinion and the gamble didn't work. On the point I think we have really missed Reyes range of passing this season.
Aliadiere has been with the club years and hasn't achieved anything - he must be a relation or Wengers love child or something but he needs to go so the likes of Simpson, Murphy, Fonte and Bendtner get their chance.
Ljungberg is a spent force and could also do with being sold on, we should also be in the market for a new keeper.
I can't see Eto'o coming unless some serious cash is involved, Torres would be fantastic and I would also welcome Ribery as I think he is a bit more direct than what we have now. As for a keeper - Craig Gordon may be worth a gamble, especially as we stand little chance of getting Carson off Liverpool or Foster from ManUre.
Anyway win our remaining home games and we'll be fine for fourth.
