usual thread starter... familiar woes. and arsene says he doesn't intend to buy this summer. don't believe a word of that for starters!
Could"nt agree more the amazing thing is Wenger was willing to pay £14 million for Baptista as a replacement for Vieira the summer before. I have never seen a Brazilian with such a bad first touch. The Beast- never was a nickname so undeserved.
As for Aliadiere he is either Wengers secret love child or has some dodgy pictures of Arsene,how else do you explain him still being at the club after 8 years.He has scored ONE league goal in his Arsenal career.
As for Eboue i think Wenger made a massive mistake selling Ralph. Eboue just cant concentrate and he goes down quicker than Monica Luwinsky.

Agree about the defence. I have believed for a long time, and this will probably earn the wrath of many gooners, that Toure and Senderos just don't have the requisite quality if we are ever to be a top flight team. They either lack composure, or concentration or both when it's a really bad day.
Like the Beast, they seem to get outmuscled too ridiculously easily for someone with their size and physique so I guess it must be down to technique. And if they ain't got that, well something's wrong. What do they do in training?
Eboue as far as I am concerned, has been a big letdown. Agree that we let Ralph go prematurely. I think Ralph is a better defensive player than Eboue can ever dream of being. Eboue only looked good because of a few overlaps and crosses that he hit in a few games (when we were struggling for attacking options) when he could be bothered. The rest of the time, he has been a shameful diver, picking fights at every opportunity and generally lacking in committment. Yes I saw that moment when he could have easily reached the ball but just turned around and gave up. Appalling. I would take Hoyte over him any day.
Baptista has used up his get out of jail card. Can't defend him any more. He shows no sign of being able to adapt to the pace of the game. I don't believe he is a bad player, just that he is not quite suited to this league. Or maybe like I said, it's just something that is just not practiced in training among other things that are not practiced...
One key difference has been the change in the way we play. We used to be lightning quick in transition from defence to attack. Either through breaking up attacks early due to Vieira, or simply passing the ball forward really fast with players breaking into space very quickly. There were many willing runners. But not in this team for some reason. THey all want to hang around outside the box and ping passes around.
Depressing reading that Wenger said he won't buy this summer. I hope he said it only because he does not want to drive prices up. If he really meant it then he's losing his grip on reality.

one thing i didnt add to this article when i took it off my blog was Kolo Toure's free kicks. I have to say i when we were -4-2 up against blackburn or taking the piss vs Charlton its quite entertaining, seeing him line up a shot as straight as Hugh Hefner from so far away that even Barnet's Ross Flitney could save it.
But when we are losing 0-1 to west Ham with what was around 10-20 minutes left, i would have much preferred something of the curled in front of keeper kind. but thats assuming we can convert a set piece...maybe toure does it to show the manager we need to work on free kicks and corners in training.
One more thing, slightly trivial...i entered my name in wrongly with an 'h' instead of an 'n', any way i can change that?

It could also refer to the confused, frustrated and slightly angry face which he pulls almost all of the duration on the field
