Arsenal: Blood on the Carpet (30/4)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal: Blood on the Carpet (30/4)

Post by gooner.ed »

usual thread starter - dein as chairman? booting the current board into touch? all depends for me on one thing - what are stan's long term goals? will the current board return us to the pre-Dein malaise? In fairness to them, Fiszman, Edelman and Lady Nina have only been directors for a relatively short time. Can't pin the pre-Dein problems on them.

Football clubs have always been owned by rich bussinessmen who have very little in common with the average fan. Please don't get all sentimental about David Dein - if he was so good on the football side why didn't he go into football management? The manager and the players are the people who win trophies for the Club not the owners whoever they may be.

Woody the reason fans are getting sentimental about David Dein is he brought Arsene Wenger to the club. The best thing that ever happened to our great club.Remember when Terry Neill was sacked who did Hill-Wood appoint as his replacement his Number 2 Don Howe an unbeliveable decision. If Wenger did leave would you trust Hill-Wood to appoint his successor? You only have to listen to Hill-Wood talk about about football and he is stuck in the fifties.

Woody you say the players and manager win trophies you are right, but without Dein there would have been no Graham no Wenger and no Bergkamp.Without Wenger there would be no Henry,Vieira etc. No wonderful football and no trophies.

My biggest fear is we go back to the bad old days of the seventies and eighties when all we had was tradition and no trophies.Hill-Wood Fitzman etc can build a stadium but can they provide the funds for Arsenal to challenge the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd.On Hill-Woods past form the answer is NO
