Deja view with Lehmann

Post by jacko-arsnl »

Are the old days coming back with Jens. Didnt he used to come out of his box and miss kick or hit and the opposite team just lob him. Whats going on with him hes getting more nervous for corners and making stupid decsions. Bring on Almunia i say

Its true he is pretty reckless when it comes to those sorts of things but i cant see almunia being able to block the one on one that lehman did only minuits later, he just needs to calm down (easier said then done) and focus a bit more instead of trying to spend his whole time intimidating the oppositions attack.

I like Lehman for a number of reasons

firstly I know all his faults and agree that he makes silly mistakes, gets in peoples faces a bit to much and is crazy

But
1) he always has passion for teh team, somethimes hes one of few on teh pitch
2) 90% of te tme hes a great shot stopper
3) Replacing a goal keeper is a very hard thing to do and I think takes time, Almunia is ok but not a first choice, lest have teh hearts kid onm teh bench for a season and proove his worth then come in teh following season to take it on from Jens (or if he prooves to be below par buy another replacement)

There's no goalkeeper in the world who I would rather have facing a one on one than Jens. I know he's made a few blunders recently, but he still has the quality. I'm glad we'll be keeping him for another season while we find a suitable replacement. I'm sorry but as much as I like Manuel, I don't think he's good enough. While he has seemed to have improved an awful lot in this seasons performances, I don't think it is enough to earn a first choice spot.

Jens is a complete nutter and a liability, he has cost us points for stupid mistakes. On the other hand, he has singlehandedly saved us from losing 3 points coz the strikers fail to put the ball in the net at the other end. Its a case of do his cons out weigh is pros?
