Ade Stays!

Adebayor signs a new long-term contract
Arsenal can today confirm that Togolese forward Emmanuel Adebayor has signed a new long-term contract with the Club.

Adebayor (24) scored 30 goals in all competitions last season, including one in the away fixture at Tottenham Hotspur which earned him the honour of Premier League Goal of the Season 2007/08.

Individual accolades last term also included a place in the PFA Team of the Year while the forward also finished in third place in the PFA Player of the Year.

Everyone at Arsenal looks forward to Emmanuel’s continued contribution to the Club over the coming years.

Although what does a "long term contract" really mean? :eatwords:

Very strange that they only announce it as a long term contract with no specifics!

The cynic in me says that this is just a move by Arsenal to keep his market value as high as possible and that he is already off next year!

I just find it very conveinieint that Barcelona have announced that Eto is staying for one more year only!

Well, of course it does. It's a sad state of affairs but the thing these days is to look after number one, don't integrate into society and screw over whowever you can whenever you can. It's not just in football or in business either. "No win no fee" and other such initiatives actively encourage people to screw others as much as possible. The saddest thing being that people actually believe it is the way to go now. Long gone are the days of 1977 when bunting lined the street for a party to celebrate our monarchs 25 years of reign. You could never organise such a thing now as you probably don't know your neighbours too well and you could guarantee that one of them would be looking to make something from it.
Is Ade any different??? NO, he's just another of lifes opportunists looking to maximise his own wealth. It's a shame, but it's a fact of life now.

I reckon wenger has already had enough of his crap, but did not want to see another first team player leave the squad, I think he will look at what he has, how far bentdner, walcott and Vela will progress while lining up a buy to replace him next summer

If he bangs in 30 goals this season again could not care less! If anyone is prepared to pay more than £25m for him - let him go!

although i dont agree or like with what he said and how he behaved over the summer, i dont think booing ade(like saturday), and not getting behind him is going to help the club, team, the boss or fans. if he has just signed a new long term contract, scores goals this season and works his bollocks of for the team then im all up for getting behind him. If wenger over the summer had enough of adebayors behaviour and doubted his commitment he would of sold him, where arguably we would of got the most money for him. If he scores the winner at shite hart this year then im sure people will praise him again. Although booes went around at the emirates v wba, fans in the rocket still seemed to be signing for ade.

Yeah, it is good business fo rthe club as if he does want to move next year we can maximise transfer fee, and if he gets another 30 goals this season and we want to keep him then he will have proved his worth.

I never believed he wanted to leave this summer, it was all a game by his agents to raise his wages. But it was disrespectful to club and fans.

So if he scores the winner then for you the game will only be a draw?

A greedy mercernary in football? What next, tits on this site?

For me, I want to see him score goals - important goals when it comes to the crunch and for the midfield to score more and take more initiative (not you Eboue)

If he scores 30 goals again and wants to fuck off, I would take anything around £20m-£25m for him.

As it stands, whether you want him to stay or go, It is in your interest he should be encouraged (not lauded) to do a job for us
