Fulham v Arsenal Official Thread

Post by Chippy »

Hope people don't mind if I do this again but i think it worked last week and the mods have shown no interest in doing it themselves.

This from the Kremlin
Arsène Wenger may draft Mikael Silvestre and Alex Song into his squad for the weekend trip to Fulham.

The recent acquisition from Manchester United could be involved, although the manager was wary of a slight injury, while Alex Song is definitely included after his Olympic exploits with Cameroon ended at the Quarter-Final stage.

"I am not sure about Silvestre as he has a little muscular problem, but Song is [in the squad]," said Wenger at his pre-match press conference.

Samir Nasri is also likely to be involved despite missing the French victory over Sweden in midweek. Apart from that Wenger's squad is likely to remain the same.
Impossible to predict the line up for once. Definites should be

Almunia, Sagna, Clichy, Gallas, Theo, Adebayor. Other than that who knows. Any thoughts?

BTW Silvestre injured. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

same starting 11 as last week id say, with fc twente coming up he might play a few off the bench for that and then back to our strongest 11 against the toon

I would think RvP upfront this week.

Plus I have a feeling that Eboue will not be starting in central midfield but rather wide with Theo having a breather.

Not sure Rebel. Do you not think he will want to play Silvestre? Plus i think we were all a bit surprised RvP didn't start last week.

I agree that he will probably play rvp but if he starts silvestre ahead of djouru then the writing is on the wall for our swiss centre back methinks. Anyway chippy I thought by your last line in the original post that silvestre is out with injury ?? :?

i think Silvestre wont be in the team or benchm if they say he has a lsight injuiry, then dont risk him, i think it'll be the same team, but Rvp back in hopefully, and Eboue in the middle, or maybe Song will come in, its hard to predict coz theres a few positions that dont have a guaranteed player, hence who partners Gallas, and what 2 will be in the middle, and who will play left wing.

wenger knows the importance of getting off to a good start in the league so will pick his strongest 11, thats what i feel anyway, rvp wont be thrown in just in case and theo might get a good run so i expect eboue in cm again on sat

so he is possible. I think if he is fit we will learn a lot about how le boss will use him, eg first choice or cover?

I have to say that having song on the bench even feels me with dread
I'd play ramsey in there ahead of him to be honest 8)

I used to feel the same about Song but I think he showed enough towards the end of last season to warrant a second look.

When he was on loan at Charlton I was taken on a corporate day to see them play and stuff West Ham and Song ran the game from midfield. Talking to a Charlton season ticket holder he said that he had been their best player week in and week out. Yes I know it was only for Charlton but we are hardly playing against AC Milan Saturday either.

Would just like to see the guy given a run there or maybe Kolo.

I remember the night we tonked the scousers in the beer cup two seasons ago and I thought song totally ran the game that night despite the ox in the box bagging 4 goals. However, and I know I might be a bit unfair here, the thought of playing song at centre half scares me shitless and I would rather keep him out of the 16 altogether than risk that possibility. A number of fans have siad that he played well at the tail end of last season but apart from manure what other decent team with anything to play for did he face ? He certainly does not give us any more physical strength or aerial dominance than either kolo or gallas and in midfield he is more of a petty fouler than a menacing ball winner  Sorry but the man has been with us for long enough and has not either won a regular spot on the team nor convinced enough in any 1 position for anybody to say "yeah song is a centre back/midfielder" and that says it all for me - a decent back up but not good enough to be a starter at a club like ours

im sorry but this is alex song  ok he had a couple of neat games the seasons end but we are arsenal and song alongside senderos, djourou, eboue, denilson, should not be in the first 11 unless we have 20 players out injured, how the fuck are we suppose to be a big club when we dont have big players and proper back up, up front i feel we are fine but in central defence ,central midfield and goalkeeper we are a joke to the other top teams :banghead:
