Michael Owen for Arsenal?

Post by donaldo »

Michael Owen has a clause in his contract which says if a club comes in with a bid of £9 million he can leave. Now on his day and when fully fit Owen is a world class finisher. It may be a gamble with his recent history of injuries but £9 million is a million less than we paid for Jeffers and £5 million less less than Wenger was willing to pay for the useless Baptista two summers ago.And we need an out and out goalscorer.

I never thought Owen was a good enough footballer - technique wise - to play for us. But we have seen so many chances to begging this season that you have to think he would have scored a hatful.
It is a gamble because of his injuries but at £9m one that would be well worth taking.
I don't think he would be too popular in Newcastle though.

Nah - too injury prone. Plus his heart is at Liverpool. How must Newcastle fans feel? They were his second choice weren't they?!!

Gunner67 you ask how the the Newcastle fans must feel, well if the Newcastle board are so dumb to allow Owen to have a £9 million buyout clause in his contract they must have known that one day one of the big four would come in for him.Dont blame the player, blame the Newcastle board.

My opinion is a fully fit Owen would score a barrel full of goals in this Arsenal side,And that £9 million is nothing these days with £30 million coming in from Sky this year.

No thanks. I didn't agree with him going to the World Cup last year and look what happened. We've already got Ljungberg who keeps getting injured. One more is two too many and on the ridiculous wages Owen gets it would be throwing money away.
