Eboue

Post by cobra kai »

First ever post after finding what appears to be a decent gooner forum on the web so i thought id make a bit o fan impact.

Eboue.

Everyone hates him except for me. this is generally because he is meant to be a shit cheating diver.

now i dont think hes amazing but he does put in some decent performances. he was solid against newcastle and generally decent in most games ive seen him in. everyone will no doubt quote moments when hes fucked up but for me these are all rather minimal in the great schemes of things. whereas he does make up for it with some good passing/tackles and cover. the whole move for v.persies 2nd goal yesterday, arguably the decisive goal was created by Eboue. he won the ball passed to addy and showed great awareness to give a brilliant and difficult ball to v.persie. so i dont think we can entirely say hes just complete shit. i know this is only one example but everyone seems to ignore his good stuff and focus on the bad. lots of players have bad games, walcott for instance is pretty inconsistent at times and Bendtner vs Twente needed to be killed(i actually hate bendtner more than any plater since Baptista, hes lazy and arrogant and has the touch of a rapist). so i dont understand why he gets a hard time

secondly hes not a first team player. hes a squad player. obviously we need someone better in midfield but we cant complain that we have no strength in depth if when we get a player like eboue we slag him off and want to sell him.

finally people that moan that hes dirty and a cheat seem to be the same ones that complain we cant play dirty. everyteam has their cheats except for us it seems and im afraid to say cheating is practically as much of the game now as being able to cross or shoot. i dont condone it but if every other team has players taht can cheat, then we are bloody stupid not to have one at all. again i dont condone it but eboue's "tackle" against terry at home last season practically stopped them winning the title. similarly had he not gone down in the final of the champions league final there would have been no cross for campbell to head in.

its also refreshing to have a player that isnt constantly holding the club to ransom for ridiculous salaries like adeybayor or desperate for a move like hleb and flamini.

Eboues definately not the perfect player, but he doesnt deserve the abuse he gets. not from Arsenal fans anyway.

So thats my first post. hopefully you all dont hate me now, but i thought id see what you lot think.

is the lack of replies because its too long, potentially true or just ridiculously stupid?

Not a fan of his but I have to say Eboue has been very impressive in his last two games, he's shown more skill and invention than I thought he was capable off. If he ditches the diving, whinging and conspicuous displays of religious faith we could have a fans favourite on our hands.

Welcome, Cobra! and yes, you have stumbled across a decent gooner forum 8)

I don't hate Eboue, in fact I think he is a useful squad player. He can play right back, right midfield..and is - just about - useful in centre midfield...but only against the worst of opponents, in my opinion.

I thought he played ok against Newcastle. He started well, and offered good support from right midfield. He made the second goal..not just his backheel, but by turning and bursting through the Newcastle midfield, before his one-two with Ade. As the game went on, I thought he was making more and more mistakes, and I was pleased he was subbed for Theo.

I would still hope that we could find a better player for right midfield though, as yes - he is a squad player - but he has played every game so far this season, and played far too many games last season too.

You say he's solid, but I would say he's quiet defensively, and unproductive going forward. He neither gives us creativity or bite in midfield..and on the whole, I would hope - for a title challenging team - we could bring in a better player. Maybe Bischoff is that squad player.

Just because Eboue is dirty, doesn't mean he offers bite in midfield. He dives around, leaves a foot in, and generally behaves poorly ...we don't need that. We need a Roy Keane or a Vieira, who battles hard and wins tackles...Eboue doesn't do that, I'm afraid.

Anyway, I'm going to watch Liverpool now. Again...welcome to the forum, Cobra

Eboue has had more than enough chances to prove he is worthy of a place in the starting 11...and believe me, he is not!!!
He is frustrating at the best of times and despite his flash of 'Eboue Brilliance' yesterday it certainly does not iron over the creases...

Starting XI, no. But as Cobra says...Eboue is a squad player. He's only playing because of Rosicky's injury, and the fact that Theo is still hit and miss. Eboue is hit and miss too....but is more defensively minded...so is less of a gamble than Theo in the bigger games.

some good relpies, i think im a bit over zealous in his defense becauae people are a bit over zealous in their eagerness to slag him off. i just think we shud support the team.like ive said im not saying hes great but lol and this is gonna sound like the most stupid post ever but its players like eboue that give teams the extra edge to win silverware by giving a rest to a top class player who needs it or is willing to foul an opponent because they dont care about the booking coz they probably wont play next week anyway. but im glad people have read what ive said. ive been looking for an arsenal forum for ages and after buying the gooner on saturday(which is fantastic) i saw the website and have had a look and liked what ive seen.

welcome to the forum mate,

I think Eboue has had quite a few decent moments in an Arsenal shirt.
More then Hleb anyway.

decent back up for rosicky plus he hardly ever gets injured,

From what I seen of him this season he looks better in midfield then last season.
Looks to me like he is improving, plus he turned 25 couple of months ago.

I think you summed it up yourself
its players like eboue that give teams the extra edge to win silverware by giving a rest to a top class player who needs it
The problem is he has started every game for months. most of the people who slag him off on here would be happy with him as the squad palyer to cover RB or RM, but not starting every game. :banghead: :banghead:

As for cheating he has improved a lot recently. So much so that RvP is now probably worse, but he is still a tart.

To be fair he had his best game yet in an Arsenal shirt yesterday, perhaps the loaning out of the shit Senderos has sent out a warning message to Eboue that there can be little room for passengers.

I hpoe this is the case anyway. Welcome to funderland by the way cobra :barscarf:

im eboues biggest fan i actually love him im not joking i ill be getting him on my shirt mainly because his dancing cracks me up and everyone says hes the funniest player in the squad, but i also think he has ability and with a bit more confidence and belief from the fans i feel he has alot more to give, he has pace and dribbles well and technically he is good wenger even commented on this.

i will be getting eboue on my away shirt when i eventually get rnd to buying it
