The Official Arsenal v Sheffield Utd Thread

Post by 12thGooner »

Where have Chippy and Crocit gone ??

Day before the game, time for a match thread.

With perhaps the exception of Diaby, most or our injury (see below) list would probably be on the bench were they fit for 2moro's game.

Silvestre, Sicknote, Diaby, Eduardo, Samir Nasri injured. With no mention of Clichy on the club injury list but would expect to see him on it.

So 2moro sees our first 'official' run about for the kids. Like a taking the family to the park, poor old sheffield won't know what hit them, or will they?

Recent league performances cannot be taken into account for this game as its almost certain the Prof will rest as many players as possible. But the question still remains, how well will the kids do and how much will we win by.. (no jinx's allowed).

Arsène Wenger may name the youngest first-team side in Arsenal’s history for the Carling Cup tie against Sheffield United on Tuesday.

It is now normal for the Frenchman to send out youngsters in this competition however, against the Blades, Alex Song (21), Nicklas Bendtner (20), Johan Djourou (21) and Lukasz Fabianski (23) are likely to be the ‘old heads’.

Wenger intends the field to include a raft of 17, 18 and 19-year-olds. Rising star Jack Wilshere, age 16 years 266 days, is likely to start his first competitive game for the Club. But he may not be the youngest Arsenal player on show. Speaking to Arsenal TV Online on Monday, Wenger suggested he may include first-year scholar Emmanuel Frimpong. He is a full nine days younger than Wilshere.

“There is a possibility [it will be the youngest side ever],â€

Weekend games only pal...

Gunners or the Old Triangle your best bets. 12 pins would be cool, but i reckon for a CC game its not worth it.

I am going to be interested to see the lineup we puts out. Looks like he is going to do mixture of second stringers who have had very few games and then youngsters for all the rest of the team. Not great news perhaps for Mannoe though and leaves question marks over what happens if we get injuries to Almunia and Fabianski.

With Carling Cup sides, I just want credible performances from them. Hope they don't get knocked out here and get to another semi, of course I hope that, but if it is anything like highburyJD's side, such a young and untested side is a risk.

I dunno, HigjhburyJD's side doesn't look too bad.

Fabianski, Djourou, Song, Ramsey,Bendtner have a fair amount of experience between them to not really have anything to worry about against a sheffield side.
