usual thread starter… have to say I think that football could be a lot more like rugby in terms of respect of officials if the authorities cracked the whip a bit more. But really, this needs to come from the top – FIFA, and filter down to the national associations and their refereeing bodies. But banning foul language and even speaking to the referee unless spoken to would be a start. Kids watch the pros on TV and imitate the bad behaviour. That isn’t good.
Time for some genuine respect (25/9)

The FA have got to get their act together and ban the right people.
Just recently:
Letting Terry off the hook for a rugby tackle was a joke.
Dissing Halsey for having the balls to red card Terry was a joke.
Alan Wiley failing to give Everton a pen was a joke.
Then to punish Moyes for being upset at a crap decison was a joke.
Not punishing Danny Guthrie further for deliberately breaking a leg was a joke.
The list is endless.
Being a ref is very difficult and they are entitled to get the odd decision wrong - but for the FA to compound the errors in unforgivable

To say managers should be banned for having a go at the ref is complete crap, yes if it is having a go like fergie saying the ref is biased then yes deserves to get a ban but then look at recent cases like like moyes at stoke and boothroyd at watford all they done is state the truth if the ref has made complete joke decisions then why shouldn't the managers say so, especially when a microphone is shoved under their noses right after the game when emotion is still running high, each case if different and should be judged as such, refs can only expect respect when it has been earned.
