Senderos
When Senderos plays I feel less confident. Whether he has only played in 2 defeats that is irrelevant. When he is on the pitch I feel like I can't watch. Song is ahead of him in the pecking order now imo and I am still hoping we sign another CB in the summer. Phil has never filled me with confidence. He is just not Arsenal quality for me.

Senderos is too inconsistent
I think he has some quality to be a player for us but he's got to cut out on mistakes. Two things I am not sure about is his mobility and concentration, I think he can improve the latter but not sure about the former.
I wouldn't get rid of him but I'd make him a fourth-choice defender by buying a more trusted and dependable centre-back who doesn't make your heart race whenever the ball comes close to him
Oh yeah, and the two games we lost with Phil, were because of him

I agree with everything but the bit in bold. I'm not stating he should be starting for us, but I do think we have worse players in his position.khalid_red wrote:Senderos is too inconsistentI think he has some quality to be a player for us but he's got to cut out on mistakes. The defeat to Sevilla was because of Senderos, Gilberto Silva and Traore. The defeat to Liverpool was Senderos', Almunia's and Toure's. We recovered from Senderos' mistakes, but we couldn't after Toure's.
Senderos is like Homer Simpson, whenever he's on the pitch the rest of the team work that much harder.

I wouldnt count the Liverpool QF because it was against an English team played at premiership pace. Againt Milan - and in previous Euro campaigns and for Switzerland - he's looked more comfortable.Ras Dam wrote:That doesn't make sense. If Senderos is better suited for Europe then he would lose games in the Premiership and not in Europe, not the other way round.
I would echo much of what has been said of phil in that he just doesnt instill confidence although I do believe that is in part down to the fact that he is waiting for us fans to jump on his back with every mistake.
I would also say that I would have phil in my team every day of the week and twice on a sunday ahead of song who played ok in a few games at the end of the season in games with nothing much to play for except in the manusa game.
I would also like to say this re champs lge game at anfield cos it has been on my mind a lot since and I didnt get a chance at that time cos of forum changeover problems
- phil was caught out shocking for hypia's goal and there aint no getting away from that but other than that did he have a good game ? Everybody remarked at the time that torres had 1 shot all night and he stuck it away well but if he only had 1 chance and crouch hadnt had a smell doesnt it then appear that our centre halves did ok ?

It would appear that way, yes. We made a few mistakes in that game but all in all we played brilliantly. We played our part in the best game this season. Although I was disappointed to lose I was proud of the performance.augie wrote:doesnt it then appear that our centre halves did ok ?
Can't say the same for the games against Middlesbrough however.

Senderos might have done alright when toure went to africa but come on let's face it, would fergie or mourinho (or even grant) have him in their starting line ups or even on the bench? I backed him when others were slagging him but Liverpool was the straw that broke the camels back for me and no matter how many good performances he'll put in the fact is he'll always have a ricket in his locker, Arsene get rid!

I have to say I have a lot of sympathy for Senderos. The lad is very unfortunate in that, when he makes a mistake, it ends up in the net. It also seems to usually be in a big game. Meanwhile, the likes of Ferdinand get away with murder week in, week out.
Ultimately I think that Senderos will never be able to perform on the biggest stage, and that is a shame.

Doesn't make them right. Key figure in our Champions League run, didn't concede a goal in the last world cup and didn't lose a game in the Premiership this season. He's a bit rash at times, but if Toure can be forgiven this vice I don't see why Senderos can't.ko king wrote:seems most think the same as me

Senderous is actually better than he often gets credit for.
Trouble is he's recognised as a weakness by us and opponents.
When the latter see Phils' name on the team sheet, do they respond as they would if it was Ferdinand/Terry/Tony Adams ? Sadly no.
The latter were/are feared and respected. At the highest level and against top class opposition, Phil lacks the combination of pace and positional play that marks out a dominant centre half.
Being shown a clean pair of heels by Fernando Torres is no disgrace; but being left for dead by Sammi Hyppia is !
